Atelier just informed me that my $20,000 upgraded leather will not have any warranty. I think I’m going to pass and just get the standard leather. Any thoughts for those that have semi-aniline?

I wonder what kind of warranty is applied to standard leather though.

Maybe the dealer has an aftermarket warranty. Some sort of spray on / ceramic product.

They told me that at the NYC Atelier appointment - if you do a 'non-automotive' leather or fabric of any type [through Tailor Made] then you have to sign a waiver and there is no warranty.

That is probably understandable because of semi analine and indeed analine leather qualities . I could imagine a lot of people who would be arguing that there is a fault in the leather , when it is really the natural beauty and aging of Semi Analine showing through .

I wouldn't want to use a non automotive grade product for my seats, but that's just my $.02. Too much risk that you'd get premature wear or tearing, especially in a GTS.

Well through TM you can choose Kvadrat boat/outdoor fabric, which is arguably much better for exposed use.

They will give Alcantara through Atelier and warranty it, which might be fairly resistant and not terrible to clean. It does develop wear/hard spots from body oils though, as seen on Alcantara steering wheels and bolsters.

I had Alcantara on my steering wheel in my AMG and it was terrible . If it is a high touch area it simply loses its softness and any texture and gets hard . I have even seen this in Pista’s where the seat belt goes over the seat when used .

I have alcantara on the inserts of my Vanquish steering wheel, still feels as soft and looks the same as the day it was new, with 9 years and 17,000 miles. On the other hand, I have alcantara in my 720S, which has generally held up well. I do have some staining on the window ledge, where I tend to rest my elbow. It's a darker spot, I'm probably the only one who would notice but it bugs me nonetheless. Not enough to make me change where I rest my elbow, though.

if you pick a unique leather made via one batch it'll never match via repair. you'd need custom matching. semi aniline has nothing to do with it. i can see why no warranty.
