As I had announced in the New York tri-state forum, I just got myself a 1978 308 GTS last week. After several years with the Mondial and selling it early this summer, I decided I had to have another F-car, and have always loved the 308's. So this one fell into my lap. I'll post a couple of pictures when I get a chance. It's a nice car with just a few things that need attention. I've already ordered Birdman's fuseblock upgrade.

In the meantime, the PO had installed some not so nice Sparco seats that are impossible to get in and out of. He gave me the original seats which will need a little work to get them into tip-top shape, but very doable. So, the question -- Which one is the driver's seat and which the passenger? One has the adjuster on the right, the other on the left. Which one goes where, or does it matter?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Driver's seat on my 1977 GTB has the adjuster on the right, but the seats are probably interchangeable. I'd try to put the best seat in the driver's position.

The seat adjustor is on the outside or door side of each seat. For drivers seat it is on your left and for the passenger it is on their right. Just like most other cars that have manual adjustments for rake etc.

To clarify a little...the seat back adjustment should be on the door side. The lever that lets you tilt the seat back in other words.

The seat track that let's you slide the whole seat forward or back is the same for both sides, it's the same part.

Is there a pouch on the back of each seat or only the passenger seat? I know there is one on the passenger seat since that is where I store my car docs but if there is one behind the driver's seat, Ihave failed to notice it...probably because I'm always sitting in it. ;-)

There is only a pouch on the back of the passengers seat (at least on my '85)

    Steve -

I'm just redoing my original seats (strip, rejuvinate, redye), along with refreshing some of the interior fabric that is worn. I'm planning on posting the process/steps that I've gone through, but if you need any info on working the seats in the mean time, PM me.

Thanks Mark. Actually, I did the process on the seats in my old Mondial and they came out looking like new. And those were tan. These are black, which will be easier to work with. I used the stuff from Color-plus in the past, and it is great. Easy to work with and works very well. But I took a look at them last night and found that the seams in the seat panels on both seats are split. I'm going to take them to a repair shop I've used in the past and see if they can be salvaged.

And thanks to everyone for the input. I looked at the seats last night and immediately saw the back adjusters. Of course, those would go to the outside. So, DUH. If I'd looked first, I would have had my own answer. LOL

    Regards,
    Steve

Correction, the seats obviously aren't interchageable, due to the side seatback adjustment, HOWEVER:

My 1977 308 GTB USA model has the fore/aft lower control lever ON THE INSIDE edge of each seat, not the outside....

Might there have been more than one style?

    Greg
