ok, this may seem dumb to almost all of you, but I was wondering what is the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer on a semi (in inches). And how much would this distance vary on different trucks and on the weight of the load they're carrying?

lol, I actually thought of it on my own...is that worse? But, I do remember seeing comericals of them doing that. However, the semi's looked raised alittle and had nothing under them like spare tires or anything else. I'm just wondering if my NSX (46.1 inches) will make it :), maybe with the t-top off I can save a half inch or so. If not, I'll have to wait till I get a Diablo, with like 44 iches of height.
I'm guess most people won't even read this, and those who do and reply will tell me how dumb I am......and I am :), but if I make it it'll deffently be a rush. I'll tape it too. I don't have any plans of trying anytime soon, but if you don't hear from me after a while you guys no how it turned out :(....I'm sure you'll read about it if I fail. Also, other than reckless or dangerous driving is that even illegal??

Dude don't even think about it. You could kill the driver of the truck even if no one else is on the road.

Dumb isn't even close...... Think brain dead

The trailers used in the movie were modified. An Esprit was 44" tall last I checked (around 1990 :D), and if that won't make it, I wouldn't try in your NSX. I honestly think my Fiat X1/9 would have been able to do it, but I never lined it up next to one to see.

the first F&F shows how to do it...

the second F&F shows the consequences of one thing goes just a little wrong.

Please, I dont want to read an obituary about an Fchatter testing his luck. :)

Quick! Someone call the Darwin Awards! Tell 'em there's gonna be video! :D

You can probably do it, depending on the trailer. I'm sure there's a bunch of variables (make of trailer, loaded/unloaded, tire inflation, ride height of trailer, etc.)
My stock ride height Miata was about half an inch too tall with the top down (the trailer was parked, I don't have a death wish) and it's supposed to be around 48 inches tall.

However, I'm sure you've noticed, most trailers have spare tires, the flip down feet, and all sorts of assorted stuff underneath. IIRC, the FNF trailer had the bottom cleared out and was raised.
Stock Civics are around 55 inches, so I'm sure they were lowered a good bit.

So does anyone know the acutal height?? I think I'm gonna try and measure a few when I see them in parking lots, and also just drive under them parked to get a feel. And yes I know I'm a dumba$$, and I will make sure IF I do it nobody else is around. As stupid as it is, you all have to at least think it would be cool to do if it was intentually staged in a controlled enviroment with the truck driver fully aware of what's to happen......if I make it. Maybe I'll take the top off and smack the bottom of the trailer as I go under :-D

I think there's a website with a guy that takes out his go-kart on public roads at night an takes it over 80mph. They showed him going under a semi truck iirc.

Have crossed under a semi on a Kawasaki ZX-11 motorcycle...
I rode alongside to check out how feasible it was, planned it for a long time, then paced it till we got to a curve and the truck was in the middle lane. Swung out, then sharp turn towards the trailer, right in the middle, heeled over far enough to make a sailboat jealous. Don't know why I did it. 1995 was funny like that.

ZX-11s are remarkably stable and steerable at extreme lean angles. Plus, there is enough power to get you out of trouble...instantaneously in most circumstances, although your options are limited when burrowing under a semi. My biggest concern was leaning over so far that the exhaust pipe (stock) would start skating on the tarmac...every time I did that, it would throw off the most amazing shower of sparks, but it would alter my line. This operation called for a delicate touch. I am pleased to say it was completed successfully. :)

    Never again (most likely).
