I should know more tomorrow on security - I agree Cobra un attended in down town... no deal for me, but in any event please come on out!
With it being on Monday and with me being in down outside of Savannah I doubt I will be able to make it, but I will try!! Thank you for putting it together whether I am able to be there or not. PDG
Ok So here is the full deal: We have 25 Passes available for free - first priority go to FCA members. Those of you on FCA list have already got an invite from Will, please respond ASAP. After Friday all remaining passes will be available here ( again for free) its a first come frist serve to FCA then remainder FCFS here on F Chat. I think Lotus & Porsche Clubs will get same deal... check with your local rep. Bob Varsha is confirmed for Monday 22, to introduce the picture, and we are trying to get an F-1 Lotus from Barber to show up as well. Remember : to qualify you have to bring your F car / exotic, and priority goes to FCA 1st. (This is one of the benifits of membership!) Ciao Ya'll!
Do I need to rsvp for the event or can I just show up and purchase a ticket? Will there be any security for exotic cars (I want to invite a few friends who have exotics)?
I dont think there are tickets for sale at this event. this is the local Press preview. so you have to RSVP 1st. thru FCA and any left overs I'll distribute here. So far we have 14 reservations. as of 4:50 PM.
Tom, So if we are not a member of FCA (I am not) and we don't get one of the 25 free passes, we can not pay to get in? Is that correct? I would like to go with my wife and friend, but if I can't - no problem. We will go later in the week. Jack
My PC at home is on the fritz at the moment, so I will RSVP here for now. I'll respond to Will's email if I get my computer fixed in time.
Unfortunately yes. I think FCA is going to take up all the free passes I have. check with Mick at Lotus SE he may be getting some as well. the movie still opens on Friday so ample opportunity to see the movie.
Hey all, All of our Preview tickets have been spoken for! Thanks for those who responded ASAP. Senna will be shown Friday the 26th, and based on sales will be kept over.... so dont miss out. Previews are really good, and for those of you who are diehard F-1 junkies / history buffs, this should be a super film. love him or hate him Senna was one of the best! I was fortunate to have met him several times during his life... always a nice guy & a bit shy. It will be interesting to see how the film matches up with the reputation he had while alive, and then postumously. Interestingly Jackie Steward declined to be interviewed for the film....
Ok, so on the first page I replied that I would go. It didn't say anything about being a FCA member. So, I guess I don't get a ticket?
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight! We had a huge Ferrari turnout and the Movie is very, very good! Thanks to Bob Varsha for coming on out as well!!! I encourage you to see the movie while its in Atlanta... this is not just a racing movie, its personal and just a great piece of cinema!!! Cheers all! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a fun time, even finding time to grab a nice, quick dinner at an Indian place on the second level of the center. The movie shows that you can have suspense, even when you do know what's going to happen. I think that Tom and I may have been the only Ferrari owners there who actually saw Senna race; maybe that's why we had the only cars there built during his lifetime! (If anyone else reading this did see Senna race, please chime in.) Here is the first set of photos; I'll have more tomorrow. Thanks again to Tom for arranging this and to Bob Varsha for his excellent introductory talk. What a great time. We ate at the bar next door which had very good food. The movie was very good! Even my wife, who knows little about F1 liked the movie. Thanks for putting this together.
What a Fantastic time last night. The Ferrari turnout last was great, especially the 458 challenge. The movie was excellent, my wife wants to go see it again!!!! One of the best parts for me was leaving last night. I followed a blue 550 that sounded so good. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
for pulling this together. We had a fantastic time last night. Probably the best racing film I have ever seen and nicely presented by Mr. Varsha.
Here are the rest of my photos. I want to see a full field of those 458 Challenge cars racing - maybe FNA can be convinced to bring the series back to Road Atlanta in 2012? And while the California's styling has been criticized, I must admit that the 3/4-rear view with the top up makes the car look like a cat ready to pounce! Last night I said that it was unfortunate that there were no Lotuses present, since Senna raced, and won, for Lotus, but that he had never driven a Ferrari or a Porsche in competition. (In fact, he deprived the Scuderia of at least a few victories!) Well, I was wrong. He did drive a Porsche in competition - once. In his rookie year in F1 (1984), he also co-drove a Porsche 956 to 8th place in the Nurburgring 1000 km. Here's a limited-edition model of that car: Image Unavailable, Please Login
