And! To welcome TEAM SENNA as only true car-lovers can, we have arranged for a spectacular AUTOMOTIVE WELCOME FOR “SENNA” comprised of about ten of our favorite local cars lined up in front of the Alabama Theater for your gawking enjoyment!

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to see this award-winning film on its only scheduled showing in Birmingham. Order up your tickets – you do not want to miss out! We are still working on parking, a drive to the movie, and maybe a dinner afterward, but getting tickets in your hand was most important. If after you purchase your tickets you feel you want to be updated pre and post movie plans send an email to [email protected] and we will keep you informed.

I am also looking for a Senna era Ferrari to display in front of the theater (in addition to 5 other cars). If you would like details let me know at [email protected] for details (there will be security for your car)

Tommy we got the cars in place. Thank you for the offer of your car, but the Alabama cut our allotted cars in half.

If you are planning on going the clubs have managed to get reserved parking near the Alabama in a deck. We only have 25 spots and they will go first come first serve to those taking part in the drive to the theater from Barber's leave time 2:15. There will be 7 select Senna related autos on display at the theater. After dinner will be groups where ever they choose to go.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE! We have the details for the SENNA events on Sunday as together as we can get them. It's been a real challenge in less than two weeks, but*we have put together a*real treat for three of your senses! The SIGHTS, the SOUNDS, and the SMELLS of beautiful cars (please don’t touch or taste!). All to celebrate the one Birmingham showing of “Senna,” the long-awaited documentary about legendary Brazilian F1 racer, Ayrton Senna, during the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, at the recently-restored historic Alabama Theatre.

Regarding the TICKET DISCOUNT CODE – we hope you have already orderd your tickets, because the ticket discount codes are NO LONGER VALID. Why didn’t we tell you that when we advertised the discount code??? Because we did not know that advance sales for ALL FESTIVAL TICKETS ended on Friday at 4:00 - until Friday at 3:55. So sorry about that. The Alabama Theatre has 2,200 seats so walk-ups on Sunday should be fine.
    *
Again, thank you all for your patience! Now read on for the schedule of events on Sunday:
    *
1PM - BARBER MUSEUM TOUR - Jim Roberts will meet you in the lobby of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum at 1PM to lead a Senna-themed tour. Cost – depending on attendance, a group of 10 or more entering together will be $12/each, otherwise $15/each ($10/kids).
    *
2PM - GATHER in Barber Museum lot FOR INFORMAL GROUP DRIVE to the theatre. Jim Roberts will have directions to share, but the drive will not be officially "led." Keep your heads up - we won't know the exact end of the drive route until right before we leave from Barber.
PARKING - THERE IS RESERVED PARKING AT $8/CAR FOR THE FIRST 22 CARS (sorry, any previous reports of “free” parking were mistaken). You will be given a PARKING CARD for access to these spaces which are in the Central Parking lot with the entrance on the left just past the Alabama Theatre between 18th and 19th Sts. (there is another entrance on 4th Ave which is the front of the lot). You will have to have this card on your dash to get one of the reserved spaces, and you will PAY AT THE LOT.*
Central Parking will have the lot staffed, but no extra “security.” Unfortunately, the Theatre, Festival, and City of Birmingham are not sure which streets are going to be closed around the theater, and when. So we will have to totally play this by ear, in terms of finalizing the end of the route, depending on closures. *The reserved parking spots may be all together, or they may be spread out in this lot. For now, we just have a promise of space in their lot. Note: depending on street closures, we may not be able to cruise by the front of the theatre. We may have to bypass that entirely and go straight to parking. This is totally out of our control and we won’t know until the last minute Note that for cars beyond the first 22, there is additional parking, probably in the same lot with the reserved spaces, and additional lots*downtown in the vicinity of the theater. Given the busy Sidewalk Film Fest ival weekend, this was the best we could do on such short notice to get any kind of parking reserved at all.
    *
2:15ish pm – Group drive cars depart for the theatre from Barber Museum Parking Lot
    *
2:45 - 3PM GROUP DRIVE ENDS DOWNTOWN. Again, be on your toes before we depart from Barber to get the details on the end of the drive & street closures.
    *
3PM - BIRMINGHAM CAR CLUBS*& BARBER VINTAGE MOTORSPORTS MUSEUM WELCOME “SENNA” TO BIRMINGHAM! Be sure to notice these cars lined up for your viewing enjoyment in the lane along the front of the Theatre -*coordinated by John Viviani:
    ·******** 1984 Lorinser MB 190e (SCCA)
·******** 1991 Acura NSX (Birmingham British Motoring Club)
·******** 1987 Lotus Esprit (Lotus Club of Alabama)
·******** 2006 Ford GT (MOB, Inc.)
·******** Ferrari 355 (Ferrari Club of America)
·******** 1984 Lotus 95T (Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum)
And in honor of the SIDEWALK Moving Picture Festival, a beautiful 2002 MV Agusta F4 250 "Senna" motorcycle will be on the sidewalk in front of the theatre, again, courtesy of Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. *List of*vehicles subject to change!
    *
3:40PM SHOW TIME! "Senna" starts promptly at 3:40. Those who got tickets using the discount code will have guaranteed seats together in the theatre – usually they fill the floor before opening the balcony so this is another detail TBD on the ground. Again, unless the show magically sells out (which it had not before advance sales closed, plenty of room left), there should be seats available at showtime.
    *
POST-MOVIE DINNER? *depends on interest – will be decided on the ground so heads up.
PLEASE RSVP - if you would be so kind as to RSVP to [email protected], it will help us know what to expect & deal with the last minute details.**Please say if you are doing the MUSEUM TOUR, GROUP DRIVE,*and/or POST-MOVIE DINNER.
Again, we wish we could have had more time to button down all the little details that go into such events. Rest assured that we did the best we could with the time we had. We are 100% certain that if you join us, you’ll see some great cars, enjoy a nice Sunday drive, and see a fantastic movie!
    *
Super Huge Extra Special Ultra Mega Thanks to Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, Team Senna, Porsche Sport Driving School, James Coats/Coats Classic Cars, Electric Artists, and all the Birmingham car clubs for their generous cooperation with us to roll out a great big Birmingham welcome for SENNA!

    See you Sunday!
