Senna Release Date

I'm sure it will come out at some point in the future, but nobody is really sure of when that'll be.

 

Be aware, many of the Senna DVDs available on Amazon, or Ebay are the original Brazilian versions. The main dialogue is in Portuguese, with English subtitles. Also, the DVD format might not work with US players.

The US version has English dialogue and commentary, and is the correct format....also there may be a "directors" cut with additional footage with the US release.

I "liked" it primarily for that reason.

 

I have the "Brazilian" version of this great documentary. It's a pitty most of you can't speak Senna's mother language because it is the proper way to fully understand the messages. The English version will loose some of the nuances on the documentary, but that's life. The one I have did not play on my DVD player, so I watched it in my Laptop. Brazilian DVDs have the Pal-M format, while US versions will be NTSC. Cheers.

 

The Official F1 web site has an offer for the Sena movie DVD but it is listed as a DVD compatible with "UK Cert E & Region 2 PAL" DVD players. Will those play properly on US DVD players? Thanks for the replies. It might be best though to simply wait for a truly USA compatible DVD to be released. I'm sure that one will be out before the Holidays.

 

I'm hearing November 5 for a release date in the US.

 

I just saw on Amazon.com you can pre-order the Senna movie on DVD, available on March 6 2012.

 

You can stream it on Netflix.

 

Not the full version, you are missing out on a lot of stuff with that one. No Prost interviews, lots of other interviews are gone too.

FWIW I pre-ordered mine from Amazon a month ago and received it this past Monday.

 

Amazon has it for $14, at least when I saw it.

 

I stumbled across the DVD today at Best Buy, only $15! I bought one of the two copies on the shelf. I was surprised they had it though I rarely buy DVDs so I don't know whether Best Buy is known for their selection or not. Regardless, I left the store a happy customer today!

 

Does anyone know if the iTunes version has all of the content of the DVD?

 

Just watched it last night. They did a phenomenal job with the film. At the point of the film when they reach Imola '94, chills ran down my spine. Very much worth watching!

 

I can't help with iTunes but the DVD "special features" are:

• Interviews
• Senna Family Home Videos
• Filmmaker Commentary...

I have a Best Buy across the street from my house so I'm gonna call them NOW!

EDIT: Just purchased the DVD from my local BB and it is apparently the US version that was just released on 3/06/2012 according too their website, just under $17 w/tax. I think they have one more in stock . I mentioned the US version only because I had been told the earlier releases were Euro based and would not play on US dvd players. Now I have something to watch over and over for the next 3 weeks until the next GP.

 

I am about halfway through the dvd and it is amazing. One thing I realized while watching is how priviledged I am in that I saw every F1 race he contended and that I have all his races recorded since his days with Lotus up until that "day" in '94, I feel honored.

So I just finished the dvd and I knew I was going to cry, again. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for all the behind the scene scenes which I have not seen in many many years. I will always remember that fatefull day aswell as Sid's words "Lets just quit together and go fishing, ok?"

I'm probably just talking gibberish because I'm still emotional but man I love F1 and miss Ayrton.
