So if Heikki stays in 2009, it's obvious that Senna will replace Hamilton.

    LOL

Bruno would be smoked by Hamilton, not even close. You see the gap between Alonso and Piquet jr? It would be similar to that, no way half a Senna could compete with Lewis.

The gap between Alonso and Piquet is only 5 points 18-13.

Nothing is mentioned about Senna replacing anyone, only the possibility of a test role as McLaren.

 To be honest I haven't been following his career, but I'd say you don't get to be running second in GP2 by luck.

What're the opinions of others here? I need some edumication from the peanut gallery. :)

Right, because Piquet got extremely lucky with that safety car and pitted at exactly the right time for that 2nd place. I'm not talking about points here, because obviously points don't tell the whole story, case in point Alonso vs Piquet. Up until a couple races ago, Alonso was always at least a few tenths quicker than Piquet, and getting that car well into the points. Piquet on the other hand was qualifying back in 18th position, and crashing out like he did at Monaco, and not even making it past Q1. It's not hard to see that Alonso is the superior driver.

Jury is still out IMO. He is second in GP2 but so was Piquet Jr before moving to F1 as a tester for Renault. It would be great to see him succeed though.

This is his second year in GP2, after finishing 8th in the previous year. He's also currently with the best team, Isport International, so he damn well should be up in the order. He's done well this year, and considering his lack of racing between ages 10-20, he's made a great comeback. I personally don't think he can compare to other young drivers like Hamilton, Kubica and Vettel. I see him doing a bit better than Piquet has been doing, but only because he'll most likely be in an STR and against Bourdais.

Agreed. GP2 is no hack series, but at the same time money can buy a little more in the go-faster department. There really is no bigger name in F1 than Senna, and my only hope is that everything he does from here on out is attained through merit and not because of some pathetic hopes of tapping into the ghosts of past greatness.

i have been watching the GP2 since last year and rarely miss a race...(1 of the reasons is the mega hot presenter ITV has...;)). Bruno looks ok out there, he's certainly a good & quick driver but he makes mistakes (possibly because the amount of risk he takes sometimes).

I think another year in GP2 or F1 testing will do him good.

Thank you for the stats Yellowbird. :)

While he's only won 12.26% of the time (which isn't bad at all) he's been on the podium (top 3) 28.3% of the time. Any driver that'll give you a 1 of 3 shot at putting your car in the top 3 mustn’t be all that bad.

I also noticed from the statistics posted that on average he's finished better than he qualified. It also looks like he's had some quite inspired drives, no? There is a couple where he'd started back at the bottom of the pack and pulled it into the top ten. It seems he does know how to execute a pass. I'm assuming the instances where he qualified well and then finished down are due to the risky mistakes. Is that correct?

well if you have the best car in the grid I guess is not hard to be in the top 10 or get a podium.

Bruno is good. He is second to Pantano, who has driven in F1.

It is helpful to watch GP2 because it is the feeder series for F1. It will make you a more informed F1 fan if you watch it. Plus it is funner to watch. SpeedTV shows all the races,so just record it when you record F1.

GP2 seems to have much better racing. Either hungaery or the German races where people were being pushed off track and still go for the pass....It was pretty exciting and there were some good battles.

Which is a very valid argument we've been making about a certain driver you've come to love. How might this be any different? I mean if we made up our minds from early results Takuma Sato would be the best driver on the grid. If he were still on the grid that is... The guy wiped the floor with his F3 competitors at the same point that were judging Bruno.

Actually I don't care if he get a seat in F1 as long as it is not in Ferrai.

About Massa well he won the italian formula Renault and the european formula Renault at the same year also the formula 3000 euro-series and the formula Chevrolet Brazil and he will win the F1 WDC at 2008.

thats correct. I'm not slating him, hell, if he wasnt good he wouldnt be in GP2...He hasnt been very lucky this year either, car breaking, a dog ran out in front of the car, destroying the suspension....valuable points lost and he could be a bit closer to pantano.

Oh well, **** happens as they say.
