Is this one of the best looking cars ever? Maybe a bit plump in the rear quarter. A stocky Bizzarrini/Ferrari 250LM. The picture here doesn't do it justice - have a look at this link http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/events-stories/events/2006/shows-concours/villa-d-este-concorso-d-eleganza/wps/27-serenissima/index.html Heres the blurb from the Concours website "Serenissima Jet Competizione, 1965 8 cilindri, 2996 cm3 Body: Coupé, Carrozzeria Grandsport Entrant: Noel Rieben (CH) In 1965 the well-known Venetian nobleman Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata ordered the Jet Competizione from Automobili Serenissima in Modena. That same year, the car underwent testing in Le Mans , but with scant success. This was followed by another race in Italy . In 1966, the engine of the Serenissima Jet was mounted in Bruce McLarens Formula 1 car, with which he went on to claim the first world championship point for the McLaren team. Following extensive restoration work, the Serenissima is on public show for the first time after 40 years at the Concorso dEleganza Villa dEste." Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you follow this thread a bit, you'll find an abundance of info and pictures relating to the Count and his cars....its a fantastic thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83991
Thanks very much for the link - it is a very interesting thread. The good Count is responsible for the Breadvan too - another car I am a great fan of. I also found a decent thread about the Villa D'este Concours 2006 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103227 A stack of great photos - mainly from Marcel (of Ferraris) but I did find this one too...
