He and MV don't get on too well so probably never a real option.

Even the Mexican press laugh off Perez lol. So he keeps the seat. He is just in the way as his races are against Stroll. His reputation is shot lol.

Thus, Esto - the country's leading sports outlet - headlined in big letters, "Checo Perez, from bad to worse." The medium pointed out that although Max Verstappen's teammate started on the front row of the grid, he ended up crossing the line in eighth place. Perez moved up one place a few hours later as original winner George Russell was disqualified.

The comments then cited that Perez "keeps tumbling" and he dropped back from second to eighth, which was characterised as "a reflection of how his last few races have been. This makes it nine consecutive Grand Prix without a podium finish'. Although Esto did add that Perez was not helped by Red Bull's 'poor strategy'.

Now we know why Carlos signed with Williams. Perez must have serious dirt on all of them, or the cartel and Carlos Slim who are Perez's backers do.

It reminds me of when Canelo fights in Las Vegas. OF COURSE the judges are entirely in Canelo's pocket and corrupt, Canelo is literally the cartel champion and no one is going to cross the the cartel........

Well he has the seat for this season. If his form doesn't improve dramatically he will be gone next year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Red Bull lose the Constructors Title all because of Perez. At the moment it looks quite probable too. RBR has fallen bad this season. Without Max they are the 4th best team. We know at least in the past that Max had a contract that stated if the team didn't provide him a good enough car he had the option to leave. Max may love Red Bull but he surely loves winning more. Since every single team would give anything to sign him, he holds the cars in where he wants to go.

Perez was pretty confident his job was safe. I don't think he has Cartel muscle keeping his job, but he has a lot of sponsor and merch sales power in his pocket.

Yeah... but there was no reason not to replace him. Give Lawson the seat to see what he can do. You don't risk a full season. Maybe because the championship is on the line they did the math and figured they could maybe just hold on. I still think McLaren is going to get caught doing something the same way Ferrari did. You don't magically contend for wins overnight with a few new pieces of carbon fiber. Something isn't quite right. Either way, RB maybe just didn't want to risk getting no points.

Redbull are going to loose the Constructors to Mclaren close to the end of the season.

This will be Perez's last year with RedBull provided he still performs as usual.

Something behind the scenes has to be going on with RedBull and Chico's Mexican backers.

However what is the F1 history with drivers not doing well and being replaced mid season? Maybe Redbull figures just keep him this season and use his car as a test bed for next years car..??? Replace him for 2025???

Maybe breaking Perez' fresh contract would be too costly for Red Bull ? That's an easy explanation.

Also, Red Bull has been dithering for months about finding a suitable replacement.

Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Lawson were mentioned, but none of these propositions justified Perez sacking.

His [lack of] performance justified it & it is in the contract that if he lags Max too much they can. He is & should have been sacked & move somebody else up the ladder.

And who decides that ? You ?

It's about the pros and cons of enforcing a contract against upsetting a sponsor perhaps.

Kind of doubt sponsors are jumping up & down for seventh place or worse. Tons of deadwood drivers in F1 right now. Somebody needs to start cleaning house.

If you are Carlos Sims, a Mexican industrialist at the head of a $ multi-billion communication company who wants to sponsor a compatriot Mexican driver considered a hero in your country, you don't bother about about anything else but supporting one of your nationals.
Beside I understand that Mexico is a big market place for Red Bull merchandise, so they have probably taken all this into consideration.
Who pays the piper calls the tune !!! A boycott in Mexico could be painful for Red Bull.

I feel bad for Perez in the sense that he probably naturally needs a fundamentally different type of car than Max. Obviously that car is designed for Max ONLY. On top of that the guy is obviously emotionally worn down from all this ridicule and lack of team support. He is not the best driver however he is better than what he is achieving.

None of the #2s at Red Bull has been treated fairly over the years.
They put all their weight behind one driver, and the other one ends up the whipping boy.

maybe it will shake them up, but their incompetence around perez, can be extrapolated by Max to the complexity and risk of engineering a new engine and car to new regs. i bet he goes to the source for 26: mercedes, and perhaps they loose lawson too.

Why didn't they make a summer break trade...maybe for Lance Stroll? Or maybe try a post break rotation of 5 different drivers? It would get some press attention.

No he is not better. He utterly lacks adaptability just like Kimi. Narrow operating window.
