Thought this might interest some of you maserati fans out there (yes it is over 8 months old) http://www.edo-competition.de/en/news/news-detailview/article/edo-competition-motortuning.html?tx_ttnews[backPid]=31&cHash=41a5d03366 65,000k's!!!! Wish I could do something like that in my 'DD' Thoughts anyone?
Noted the below - wonder if they have someting similar for the 4200 CC clutches ? ■New high-performance clutch. Extremely lightweight. Two different friction compounds selectable (strada/pista)
Several people tried to create an improved clutch plate for the Cambiocorsa gearbox. They used a kevlar compound. Most of them failed, the TCU in the car wasn't compatible, only one managed to get it working but he said that the effort was not worth it and he wouldn't try it again in the future. If the clutch is such an issue, then you should probably look for another car.
oh, I forgot to mention that recent Maseratis are very reliable, unlike the De Tomaso era cars which are junk and worthless (biturbo, ghibli II, etc). I've seen a 4200 Spyder with 150,000 km and a Coupe with 120,000 km and the owner of the Spyder told me he only did regular servicing and so far nothing major had broken down. There is also a QP in Italy with 250,000 km, it was mentioned in the club magazine. It is an automatic, so that is why it never had any clutch issues.
I think most owners of the "paddle-cars" believe they have to use it like an automatic. And that`s a big mistake! Ciao! Walter
I would've thought that even after 100,000km in any 'exotic' would either constitute towards a trade in on a newer QP or something with lower mileage?
I completely agree with you Walter, it seems like some owners either don't care or have no clue what kind of car they drive.
I guess it is not important to them, if I remember the article correctly, this QP is owned by a company that leases it to various clients, which is probably why the car has made so many kilometers in such a short time. If they kept it on good condition, who cares how many kilometers it has done...
