You must have a hub or router, right?

Will they be linked to the internet?
    - best way to do this, get a linksys or netgear router and enable file sharing that way to transfer files from both, and you'll get the internet as well.

Not going to be hooked up to the internet?
    - get a crossover cable or small hub and two regular cables to link them up and enable file sharing.

Here's a link to help you out with file sharing:

    Search under shared documents.

If you have seperate IP address' for each computer, you can just share the file and in windows explorer, type the ip address of the other puter and it should show up in the shared documents folder under my computer.

start - run - cmd (hit enter or click ok)
    type in: ipconfig (hit enter)
you'll see it read out like the following:
    Code:
    Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 6:

            Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : austin.rr.com
            IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
            Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
            Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

you can also access the other computer, or see if you can by clicking on start-run and typing in the name of the computer. For instance, my computer is named "Zero" so I would type in: \\zero another is named lemon, so I would type in \\lemon

    Other information:
\\zero\sharename would be a share name, not a folder on the computer
\\zero\c$ is a default share which only an administrator has the privilage of viewing/modifying/etc. but the "$' AFTER the share name makes it hidden.

    Hope this helps.

Right click on My Computer icon on your desktop...go to properties, then click on the "computer name" tab...it will display the name that your computer is identified as.

Create a folder in My Documents, right click it. Does it say "sharing" or "sharing and security"? Choose that option. Is that folder 'shared'?
