Im have real trouble getting Cylinders 1 and 4 (Front two) to pull their weight...I can short out any of the plugs and of course the engine revs drop but not on cylinders 1 and 4 ..

compressions OK ..Plugs OK..leak down OK ...even swapped carbs around and still those two font pots seem no to be working correctly ...plugs spark fine but always seem to be a little wet on removal....Any suggestions ?????????

SO...I was thinking maybe I should get an expert to set up the carbs and distributor externally....can this be done in Europe ?? and where /who...??

    Thanks

I once had a similar problem with number 4. after a run it would be fine but on initial start up it didn't do much. it was also wet if I let it stand for a while but again after a run it was fine. I eventually traced it to a leaking valve stem seal on the inlet valve. although I must say it seems unlikely to be 1 and 4.

Well I did change all the valve seals.
Is there a way to test them. ? If I take off the rocker cover a put a bit of air in the cylinder .. And then listen carefully with the valves open ???
    It's all a bit od.

    All suggestions very welcome

Ps. I only have header pipes on ... No silencer

Also I notice in the leak down that one of the middle pots has a slight leak on the intake valve. But that one runs nicely.

    It's all magic !!!

I took mine for a run and warmed it through then took out the plugs and checked if they were ok. - all fine. I then put them back in and waited until it had all cooled down - took out the plugs and I had one that was oily; stem seal leaking, although this only applies to inlets, the outlets might be leaking but it misses the plug.

If you have wet plugs on 1 & 4 then these are obviously not firing.

check the pump accelerator is not open and pumping fuel down the barrel/s

check the butterflies are sitting correctly and not allowing fuel to spill through the upper progression ports.

check the leads are OK and have continuity to earth ie you see a spark

what plugs are you using....if NGK iridium, in my opinion these are not suitable for the Dino V6. Get standard new plugs.

As nick said, try it when you have it all assembled, starting the engine and running it for short periods can and will foul the plugs.

    hope this helps
