I can't believe the WSJ would put this into an article. Seriously?...
I can't believe the WSJ would put this into an article. Seriously? http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/2012/05/04/do-pickup-trucks-have-more-sex-appeal-than-sports-cars/ Over a porsche or Ferrari? My exprience is the exact opposite...
Hillbilly culture in America has never been stronger. They are just feeding the animals what they like to eat.
My wife has ALWAYS thought guys in big nice trucks are sexy. She's never been all that impressed with sports cars. I don't think her opinion is all that unusual really. Jedi
Fascinating. Other countries you have to pay someone to drive a truck. Here it's a preference. Go figure.
I own a Ford F-250 4X4 "and" a Ferrari! "Winning!" [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pipTwjwrQYQ[/ame]
In my limited ownership experience, I have to say I have gotten 0 attention from women in the 328. On the other hand, strangely enough, I have seen a car full of young, nubile co-eds having a conversation at a stoplight with a dude in a Ram. I would like to think it was the car that turned them off of talking to me, but i may just be deluding myself....
I move single mom strippers in my Tacoma at least once a month, some of them twice a month..... It's handy like a pocket on a shirt!
I hate to say it, but I think its somewhat true. I don't know why. I get more attention in the Silverado Crew Cab than the 430. Weird. I don't try to understand the female mind. Maybe I am a hillbilly, but I love having a pickup. The bed makes buying, removing, etc a breeze. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
in many parts of the country opening the door on a pick-up truck is a way of turning the "bedroom lights" on :=)
Sad to say, but I see a lot more girls responding to a truck versus a sports car. Remember, we live in a society that, generally, dislikes successful people. A truck, no matter the size, etc., does not scream rich guy. To many, a Ferrari or Porsche does and that's a bad thing. As the vast majority on here say, buy the car for you, not to try to pick up dumb blondes. Also, this country loves rednecks. Mark
I remember reading something years ago in a insider auto rag. Woman like men with trucks because they can move big bulky items for them. Ugh
My wife isn't really interested in my Ferrari, but she gets super excited when I make & fix things in the house. As the piece says about pickup trucks: That makes a lot of sense to me, and it's no surprise. The fairer sex was never a consideration when I bought my Ferrari. I love its styling, its engine, its earthy back to basics dynamics. It's an engineering & 3D design thing and, at least for me, has absolutely zero to do with getting attention.
Not necessarily when driving it, but when I get out of it in a parking lot or something like that. Many women say things like "nice truck". Maybe its more intimidating to say something like that when one steps out of an F car. Again, I have no idea why and don't plan on figuring it out.
When I started racing motorcycles, I used to drive my Ford F150 supercrew extended cab all over the place with a bunch of petrolhead stickers on the window and I will admit, I got even more attention from the ladies, particularly when I had two motorcyles in the cab. Perhaps they thought me more manly and that means more testosterone and that means . . . And that was the most practical car I have ever owned, able to transport 6 people and a whole lot of crap and pull a trailer to boot!
reminds me of a time I'm waiting for my jeep to be pulled up at a very high end restaurant in Houston. There is a large group of women behind me, and there is one after the other Mercedes, Bentley's, etc pulling up and when my jeep pulls up, a lady behind me says "now THAT is my kind of car" lol
