....and for sale with RM in Pebble. Unfortunately its a bitsa-car, based on s/n2190..... http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1058958 Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is the body of 2054 a car i should have kept. I sold the body to Sam Mann who put it together with the chassis from 2190. This car was originally equipped with the gear drive A6GCS engine. As I understand it the original 2054 chassis is now a barchetta and owned by an Italian. FGM
Is the body original or very close to original? Or was there some customization, particularly around the tops of the wheel wells? Very nice looking car in any case.
Engine, drivetrain etc - all from the A6G 2000 #2190. Yes, everything is "made by Maserati" - but not on this car....! I can only hope that the original Alemanno-body and the parts of the chassis that were cut out are all coming with the car!
If I'm not mistaken this car appeared at the 2005 Ferrari Cavallino Classic held on Palm Beach. It was the only year they let some Maserati owners display their cars. I remember this as I had my Mexico there... I can't remember if I have some pictures, but the one thing I do remember is that 2054 was gorgeous!! Mike
The original Allemano body ex-2190 already used for another bitsa . See "Allemano bodied Maserati A6GCS" gallery on this site: Welcome to Rod Tempero - Motor Body Builders & Classic Car Restoration - Restorations New chassis made by Rod Tempero, the engine looks like 3500GT unit.
I thought you guys would appreciate seeing some photos of the A6GCS 2054 as it looked the day I bought it in Las Vegas. The car was at the time of these photos sitting on a Triumph TR3 chassis and drive train. We loaded it onto the flatbed and went in the house and counted out the 100 dollar bills. Drove over to the bank and got a noterized bill of sale. Delivered the car to the local Lamborghini dealer and had it picked up from there and delivered to MIE in Seattle. Those were fun days. I dearly regret selling this car and the lovely A6G2000 Frua Spyder #2030. I am sure we all have stories of cars or real estate we should have bought or kept. The original body of 2030 was taken off in the 50s as the owner wanted to race the car. He entered his car, now fitted with an ugly "home-made" body, in various US-races. What happened next to the chassis and the seperated body is unknown until Frank found the Frua-coachwork many moons later. At that time of the find nobody knew where the original chassis was...
Dear Mr. Baeumer, Vin in your post nr. 12 is wrong, you meant 2054 not 2030, to my knowledge 2030 was found intact by FGM as far as body and chassis is concerned. PS: the Vignale is really looking great Greetings
Obviously I wasn't there for the photos, but all the cars, clothes, and haircuts say mid to late 1980s to me.
As a matter of fact the 2190 body does not come along with the new 2190 being ex 2054. Practically this means that VIN 2190 is doubled (as the Alemanno obviously lives on as 2190 with a new chassis) but 2054 is erased. This makes no sense and would mean that all the historic books have to be corrected (2054 rebodied into 2190 ...). Live existence of VIN 2054 is thus buried forever unless the barchetta is uncovered and its chassis can be used together with a new 2054 body creation. I ask myself whether 2054 through the sacrifice of 2190 and conversion into 2190 really gained in value! Personally I doubt this. Historically and value wise I would say that in aggregate taken the 2 cars together values have been destroyed. Hence it can be stated this action made no sense at all! I wonder how the experts in this forum see the case; would you agree that apart from the inacceptable slaughter of 2190, this is a non-acceptable swap of VINS leading to the extinction of 2054 and a double life of VIN 2190?
Well, I do not agree with the slaughter of #2190. What happened is that an original car was butchered! #2054 is not there anymore - as the chassis gives the provenance of a car. The car with RM is for me #2190 but with an original but shortened chassis! Considering this we can now argue as #2190 is non existant anymore in the Factory specification.
This is all quite dramatic. The reality is that the chassis and engine of 2054 is now a rebodied barchetta living in Italy. Don't ask me where and with who. I was told some years ago but since forgot. The body of 2054 being such a one of a kind will live on as 2054 that cannot be changed. 2190 will always be the chassis of the as you put it "the poor" Allemano. As to values, who cares? I would however like to see the Frua Spider restored properly to the form that it was in the day it rolled out of the Frua Studio down on Papa Giovani in Moncalieri in south Turin. My 3 lira.
