Got to see the car in the metal today. Holy smokes. I liked the car in pictures. I love the car in person. It looks very cohesive to my eyes. Very aggressive obviously, but still beautiful. It's beyond my reach, but I'm super, super happy for those of you that are getting one. What a car!
So Ferrari let me know that the flash orange accents on the mirrors and side panel are not approved for production yet (only CF can currently be painted in flash orange). The design team suggested using Spice Orange for all of the accents instead of Flash Orange. Has anyone seen Spice Orange in person? In some lighting conditions based on what the design team shared with me it looks like a better version of Flash Orange, but in the shade (at least in the photos) it looks like a more dull orange. The flake in Spice Orange could work well with my primary paint (Sanu Silver). Spice orange is the speed shape on the left, flash orange is the rectangular sample on the right. This car is also Spice Orange with Sanu Silver accents: https://www.instagram.com/ferrariusa/p/C4LVq6IOACC/?img_index=1 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good images, the Spice Orange seems to have a warm gold base to the color. The Flash Orange seems the more pure Orange color. It depends what you are looking for in the accent color; with the Spice Orange looking a bit more dramatic. Blue is another potential choice with your Sanusilver which is a more dramatic paint than say Argento Nurburgring. If I remember correctly from a livery stripe close-up picture in Sanusilver that paint has a large size metallic flake component to the color! Might work well with the Spice Orange as the accent color. The Sanusilver in the Atelier model linked looks like an Opaco version of that silver, really flat with no flake either? With all that said everyone sees color differently.
As a fan of orange and having owned several cars painted in this color, I think either would be great. I actually think the Spice would really complement Sanu…especially in bright sunlight.
I agree but I’m worried about its behavior in the shade. This image makes spice orange look a lot more dull than flash orange. I’ve asked the team for more photos. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If Flash Orange is the color on the launch spec, I saw it on the car last week. It looks very cool on the car. It has a sort of orange highlighter vibe, which doesn't sound like a compliment, but it actually looks fantastic as a contrasting color. It really pops. I have not seen Spice Orange. It looks beautiful in the pictures you've shared. Probably an easy winner if it was going to be the main color. Less sure as the livery color. I guess I'm no help!
I see exactly what you’re saying and agree with your concerns in lower light. Flash probably looks better in both situations. But, if they can’t/won’t do it, then it comes down to finding an alternative…and maybe it’s not Spice. Admittedly, I don’t know much about the array of orange colors offered by Ferrari, so I can’t even recommend something else. Hopefully, they’ll allow you to stick with Flash. Although, I’ve now been told no a couple times related to my own build lol.
It’s nice to see a video of an SF90XX being used in anger. I enjoyed the video, but I take comparative lap times with a grain of salt. Different tracks suit different cars. Irrespective of the relative lap times, I have no doubt that the SF90XX will be spectacular for me on the track. I’ve driven both our 296GTS and SF90 AF at the circuit of the americas and I was much faster in the SF90 than the 296 at that track on that day in those conditions. Some of that discrepancy in my times between the 296 and the SF90 AF had to with my driving style (I lean on the front driven wheels a great deal coming out of corners), but I have had a great time in my SF90 on track. The SF90XX will be huge fun for me on the track (and running errands around town) and I am beyond excited for the car.
Good to hear you are using them on the track. Any problems nanny alarms or drive controlls causing problems on the track? For example, overheating shutting down power or interference with your driving style? Thanks.
No issues at all on the track in either the 296GTS or the SF90AF. Now, this was in March at COTA, and I couldn’t speak for what might happen to the car — or to me — if I ran it in July in Austin. But July at the track in Texas is miserable for me. My SF90 has been bulletproof when driven. My only very minor issues with the car have been when it’s sat for awhile due to inclement weather or the like (and yes, I always keep the car plugged in). Then I’ve had some minor TPMS calibration issues and such. Nothing worrisome and the car has been amazing. I know the SF90 is not for everyone, but I’ve loved every second with the car for the past two plus years and it’s done everything I’ve asked of it (although it doesn’t handle grocery duty very well).
Speaking of COTA - Mclaren went to COTA last weekend, supported by the factory with Senna's F1 and others. Hoping Ferrari will do similar - SF90XX owners run with XX track cars once a year. Debate keeping / selling Senna as XX becomes closer to delivery, it's still holding. Would be a fun pair to have in the garage - wish I could have received hyper car livery and or carbon. I don't see anything being faster than the Senna in the near future. Maybe the AMG 1. T50 shouldn't be faster. As for non hyper cars, AMG Black series kills everything. 765LT can't challenge it. Maybe up coming Gt2 Rs can.
Look forward to the XX Ring time - the preview imo looks very promising. For the first time in (can't remember when} Ferrari PR is funding lap times outside Fiorano.
While I’m certainly no race car driver and will never have the chops Christian does, I’m an A license iRacer and have run many laps on the Hockenheim circuit in various cars. Obviously, there are so many factors that affect lap times. It seems a little bit to me that he struggled to get back to full throttle at times. If I’m right, I wonder whether the car’s weight is making it necessary to wait slightly to gather it, before getting back to 100% throttle? Curious what others think? With an XX on order, I enjoy seeing related content and am really curious to see a Ring time. PS - Here’s a side by side comparison of an F1 car and iRacing sim at Hockenheim. I have two full motion sim rigs, which are incredibly realistic…but don’t simulate G-Forces or illicit sphincter puckering quite the same as real life
My guess is the tires + weight of the vehicle. It’s still a heavy vehicle and the tires they are using dont seem any different from what you can get on the AF cars. As street cars, Ferrari has to make sure the tires can function in some rainy conditions. My question is if the XX is more involving to drive. I’ll say this- having had 296 and now with SF90 Spider, I prefer the SF90. Ive tried to figure it out. I think the SF feels better balanced front-rear, that might be due to the AWD. And I think the power of the SF feels that much more than the 296- you could really sum it up as the difference between V6 and V8. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
SF90's a blast - love CF wheels. Having to order 296GTS debating AF pkg. Hopefully completed XX spec today - started with the wheel colors to build spec and turned out organic. Could use help with the best yellow.for stripes - Alloy opaco with yellow / black stripe and yellow dream lines add end caps and rear aero.
Valk would be significantly faster than the Senna, AMG One faster too (if it could complete a lap without breaking down). T50 isn't designed to be the fastest, just the most pure
XX / Senna - drive to track and back in comfort. The next level - pre during after F1 team 20k later in hopes it survived. If you have time / money / body of F1 driver - next level is a bit faster
