One would hope they have not used the info or I want to believe they have'nt.
I dont want to get drawn in by this issue only to say it is a big one,and I rather think Mclaren are going to have a hell of a job proving there innocence in not acting on any seen info..

However without mention the more burdensome aspects of this case, Mclaren I am sure are not short in spending money on development. And would have had the same level of performance whatever its the timing of this coming to light is their problem.

It can be argued they have returned to form and seeing the data has done this but I doubt it.

Muppets started this..and the focus should be on nailing them and hope the racing can continue..

Or maybe its me just wishfull thinking

you've hit the nail on the head Phil, the money has overtaken the sport a long time ago, any sport that is high profile is subject to this type of corruption.

Bernie turned a mediocre sport into huge money and made a lot of people very wealthy so nepotism and the old school tie will close ranks to protect their interests, but it doesn't remove the cynicism you get for this and other sports.

Who believes the TdF is totally clean ?

    the Olympics ?

    Soccer ?

and the list goes on, with sportsmen taking steroids and other performance enhancing drugs until we get to this farcical situation where one of the accused gets a PI to aid his defense.

Like James said, who outs their PI in the public domain when by definition this help is "private" ??

Grandstanding Stepney is just trying to reduce his possible incarceration time

I don't know about that, I think Team McLaren's presence is just as important. If M-M is baned for a year or two, its drivers can easily transfer to another team, and I would imagine that RD will "loan" FA & LH to just about any team except Ferrari, until M-M is allowed back.

    OK, David...

At the risk of seeming slow....WTF are you talking about?

Either I'm the only one that doesn't understand, or they're all afraid to ask :)

Could this possibly be, as twisted as it sounds?

FA has a clause in his contract with McL that if they do anything to hurt FA's reputation or bring him bad publicity, he can unilaterally break his contract and go to ANY team he wants. ;)

Holy crap, how in the world do you come up with information such as this? Was this public knowledge? Compare to you, I might as well have been living under a rock for the past 6 months. This is utterly impressive I must say.

Alonso to leave McLaren if team found guilty

Fernando Alonso could choose to leave McLaren if the Mercedes-powered team is penalised by the FIA next Thursday. A clause in the Spaniard's three-year contract allows the agreement to be broken if his reputation or image is damaged through an action of the team, according to the newspaper Diario As.

Ron Dennis-led McLaren faces an extraordinary hearing of the World Motor Sport Council next week for, regarding the Stepney-gate spy scandal, allegedly breaching Article 151c of the International Sporting Code.

The Article relates to "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally", allowing the FIA to apply penalties ranging from fines to disqualification.

I can't imagine this would happen, but Ferrari may yet get Alonso....

FA will go to STR and replace Speed's place. He will bring STR their first WDC and WCC...........

I rather have LH. Maybe M-M will offer him as compensation for Ferrari and FIA to drop all charges. :)
