I finally got my car back from the paint shop and I think it came out looking really good. They did the following: *countersunk SF shields in fenders *sprayed lower rocker panels *sprayed rear tail light panel *sprayed both front fenders *sprayed front & rear bumpers
Thanks Jerry. I had a fabrication shop make the buckets for the shields, then the paint shop welded them into place.
WOW, what a fantastic job they did, your car looks Awesome !! I guess they have to respray the front fenders after they countersink ? I am wanting to do the same with my car as opposed to just sticking on my shields with the tape they provided. Do you recall about how much for just the countersink job ? thanks Mark
Mark-they never really itemized the paint shop bill so I don't have an exact figure. I paid ~$300 to have the buckets made up and I wouldn't imagine the welding cost me any more than a couple hundred dollars (it's the paint and prep that costs a fortune). Here are a few pics of what the buckets looked like before install:
Just beautiful chris, I love the look. I also noticed the alla 355 look in the back. Did you do that? If its a speciale, I cant tell form the front, but I thought the square lights stayed on the special, and only the racks were taken off? Looks just perfect, congrats !!
Um... That's very original and unique, but most of all, i think it's VERY bad ass... Probably one of the coolest modifications on a Ferrari i've seen in a long time... Very cool... Great idea...
I think that is the first time I've seen shields applied in a manner that didn't look tacky. Fantastic job! p.s.: Why the heck isn't there a thumbs up icon among the choices?
That looks excellent, I think you will get a lot of "wow I didn't know Ferrari did those shields back then." comments.
That is great! I like how the shields don't stick out as much. Looks like the factory item. Job well done!
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I had the option of having the shields stick out slightly, as on the stock F355 Fiorano. However, I prefered the perfectly flush look over stock. Everyone who has seen the car up close since the shields were recessed have commented how they couldn't believe that the shields and fenders were aftermarket and assumed that they were a stock item on the car.
the sunken shields look sweeet. i really like what you've done with your 348. the rear end looks better than any other job i have seen to date. the wheels look awesome to, they fit the era of the car but look really modern as well. thanks for posting the pics.
Yeah, it looks absolutely beautiful, especially it looks much better being mounted in recessed fenders. But, for those who do not wish to make such body work which can be very costly, I am now offering the thin type (1/2 thickness of the OEM) with the "closest look and feel" of the OEM shields. I have ones for 360 now and will finally have the ones for 308, 328, 344 and F355 by end of this week. k5mcl-I have had mixed responses on the rear tail light conversion. There is absolutely no middle ground, others either love them or hate them.
