Interesting first post. Welcome to the board. I was merely pointing out that there continues to be a ton of hand wringing over modern Ferrari depreciation while the real expensive part to ownership is the opportunity cost. And yeah…you are right, homes, boats, planes, everything costs a ton compared to QQQ.

For my part, I have never dreamt of any (then/now) currently offered car in the second-hand market. If buying current, I want to make it exactly how I want it. The second-hand market cars I dream of are classics - most of which are unobtainium. :)

While I concur, I’ve seen a few crazies here that argued a Pista sounded better than 458. Idk what they were on.

I think we have to look at the regulations now. The 288GTO and F40 were turbocharged, and nobody ever complains about those those sounded...raw, raucous, unrestrained. If you hear an NA engine today, it doesn't have the same presence as they did 10 years ago. Even an 812comp, as good as it sounds, struggles because of the GPF. Having gone from a pre-GPF 812SF to an 812GTS, the sound changed quite a bit. It wasn't bad by any means, and still had a nice scream, but it was as if a sock was in the way. I am generally not a turbo fan, and those that know me understand I traded a Pista for a Speciale for the quality of sound reason, and that I had an SF90 on the way.

I was disappointed with the SF90 sound, but not the way the car drove. My biggest problem is that you have to be driving hard to appreciate the car. I am NOT disappointed with the sound of the 296 though, and you get a good dose of fun and heightened aural stimulation with around town speeds and RPMs. It sounds incredible, better than any V8 of the last 10 years (since going TT). Gives me high hope for the 296SA.

Now on to prices of these things. I listed my TM SF90AF Spider for sale in November last year. It is still for sale. I listed high, and have dropped the price once. The price difference between my car and the next closest was $200k, but that has now changed. There are cars listed for around $850k or $830k, so either I have helped drive up asking prices (;)), or because of tariffs, because of the reality of hybridization (I can't even tell the 296 is a hybrid until I pop it in ED mode approaching the neighborhood.), and because Euro6 is killing sound, these cars should eventually, and hopefully, be understood. The base prices are high for both Ferrari hybrid offerings, and maybe that's the main catalyst for the drop in value, but where else could you get hypercar performance for $500k with the SF90, or such a usable car such as the 296 starting in the 300s. Maybe people are just overspeccing cars now, and I am very guilty of that, but whatever. It's fun as hell.

I tried to make that argument to myself, but had trouble sleeping at night.
