I plan on taking the car to the mountains and doing some spirted driving. We do this once a year and I have had other Ferrari's on the mountain roads, but never a hybrid.... So would really like to hear your thoughts on what mode to drive in and for how long. We leave around 9am from the cabin and drive for about 8 hours a day, with breaks for gas, snacks and lunch..... Once we get onto the winding roads, we are at high RPM's etc. how long can I drive in qualifying mode and performance mode... when driving in qualifying, I wonder what gas mileage the car will get, I sure would hate to run out of gas - LOL

Which mountain roads? I ask because I am wondering which ones are sufficient enough to stretch the legs of an SF90.

Drive it in Qualifying. With a lot of acceleration and hard breaking my guess is you fill have zero battery drainage.

I drive only in Qualifying, even during city driving and never drained the battery.

    Have fun!!!

SF90 is the best mountain road car there is. It is not a small car but it shrinks, even on tighter roads. You have instant torque and throttle response from low speeds so it does hairpins great plus the torque vectoring keeps the nose tight into sharp bends even when using early and large throttle openings through and out of a turn. You can learn to lean on it until the point you realise you will not find its limits, it will find yours - so be careful. It really is a brilliant car in the mountains. As others have said, you will never exhaust the battery in Qualifying mode. If you can use at least race mode because sport will interrupt the fun a bit too much in tight turns. Enjoy!

I just back from Corso Pilota in Italy, and we drove the crap out of 296s and SF90s all day long from two days straight in qualifying without any charging. Just gas refills and tire pressure adjustments. The cars are rock solid. No brake fade either. Amazing track vehicles.

Great car ... the Cup2's do understeer on the street, when pushed hard .... i may try Cup 2r's next.

That’s not particularly of the Cup 2, it’s more the stock alignment. Yes, the front tires are not that wide, but the stock alignment is more of a bottle neck. Change it (carefully) to your liking and let them corner balance the car, and the front can get very decent grip + the car gets more tail happy.

I prefer oversteer to understeer, if those are my options!

Do you have any alignment settings that you are willing to share ... obviously i would let the dealer make the adjustments!

I drive with a club of mostly Porsches and do the same thing. All day in the hills. I leave it in Qualifying and Race the entire time. The Porsches get great gas mileage but we usually need a break before I run out of fuel. It shouldn’t be a problem. We use radios so if someone needs fuel or a restroom break we can all stop.

The batteries will stay at a full charge as long as you leave it in Qualifying and Race. If you move it out of Qualifying, the battery level moves to half. I’m not sure why.

I’ve used full battery power when driving through national parks a couple times. It’s really quite nice with the windows down and hearing nothing but the breeze while driving through the beautiful park. When the battery got low, I’d switch it back into qualifying and it charges right up. It was also nice going through the parking lots there and not disturbing anyone’s experience while taking in the scenery.

I average less than 10 mpg .... when driven hard, on the street, i went through a tank of gas in under 45 minutes!

I drove mine on a race course almost full tank when I started, I don’t think I’ve done more than 20 to 25 laps of a approx 2.5km long track, didn’t pay attention to the fuel because I thought surely … but I was in shock to discover that I was on empty and almost out of fuel after the session o_O

    SF90 has quite a small tank. Plus 1,000 hp is 1,000 hp…

Not sure where you can use a tank in 45 mins on the road. That’s almost race track pace?!

I’ve done about 5,000 roadtrip miles with other Ferraris and McLarens and the fill up timing was basically the same. We drive pretty quickly over mountain roads etc. I get similar distance to Pista, maybe a touch less.

The SF90 also fits another 5 litres in after the click, I guess everyone is aware of that?

SF90's '18 US gallons' seems standard these days .... waay better than '15 US gallons' for the '720s spider'!
