I heard a story today, and if anyone else can refute or add to it, please do. A guy I know worked in London a few years ago and bought a Dino at auction. He said that a Lamborghini Miura came across the block that had belonged to the Shah of Iran. According to this guy, the Shah would only allow the factory to work on his car, so whenever service was required, he would fly the car back to Lamborghini on a military C-135, or whatever they had. That's all I know 'cause it's all I heard, so if you think it's BS, then please call BS on it. I'm curious to know more about it if it's true.

BTW, if this is a story that's been brought up, go easy on me. Searches bore me.

Yes this story is true. I have a picture of #4870 in the factory taken by Klemantenski (sp?) while being worked on during one such trip in the early 70s.

BTW the car will appear in a major Discovery Channel production in an short film narrated by Jay Leno and Sterling Moss, which documents the history of Supercars. #4870 will appear along side the Ex-Alpine Lamborghini Countach, (the car featured in Alpine's famous poster ad in the 80s) and 8 other wonderful cars. The Alpine Countach and the Shah's Muira will be filmed in New Orleans on Jan. 18 and 19. I will let you guys know when it airs on the Discovery Channel (and on the BBC).

After the shoot #4870 will be tuned by a specialist in California for the upcoming '05 Miura Reunion in Monteray in August.
