    Good evening y'all!

I searched for a possible post on the topic with negative results. Forgive me if there is already an existing DIY post as I may not have used the correct search terminology. With that said, this is how I alleviated the issue in my F355.

I'm sure most of y'all know how easy it is to detach the (Mirror/Inner 62876100) mirror assembly from the (Mirror Fixing Bar 63878400) base which is glued to the windshield. For those that do not know it is as simple as rotating the mirror's arm clockwise or counterclockwise about 1/3 of a way. Do not pull on the assembly until you feel the tension release from the base. Reverse the process to reinstall it.

I was going to use a high tension spring but I couldn't locate an appropriate one in my spares bin. During my search for a spring I came across some silicone plugs I used during my EOS. I checked for fitment and to my great surprise it was able to fit in the cavity after a quick (length) trim with a sharp Xacto knife.

I had to slice the silicone plug in an angle because the base of the cavity is angled. That way the pressure would be more uniform across all 3 points of capturing-spring tension. Please refer to the photo for reference.

Thankfully worked like a charm! I hope y'all have a great and safe weekend!

    Well done!

Add this to the DIY Technical Threads Section.

Thanks Barry, I appreciate it! I'm not savvy on how to add it to the DIY Technical Threads Section o_O

I took a bunch of photos when I did my EOS. I'm trying to find time to do the write up. It'll take quite a while to put it all together so it makes sense. I have a new infant so time is a premium these days. I hope to get started on it sometime soon :D

In hindsight I should have probably included a photo of the base that is glued to the windshield. On the other hand I'm confident that anyone needing to do this can easily deduce how the 2 components lock-up.

Glad you were able to solve the issue and thanks for posting. I too have a shaky mirror in my Mondial. Have to say I did not previously know of this trick to remove the mirror from the base. I'm guessing it's likely the same functionality across models. Going to give that a try!

DISCLAIMER: I am not sure how the Mondial's mirror attaches to its base so please don't assume the 355 mirror removal/remount procedure are the same. I'd hate for you to damage any of your components. Proceed with utmost caution, my good sir.
