Santa was kind enough to bring my 5-year-old a Formula 1 slot car set made by Scalextric. Cars are Williams BMW and Renault. This is a fantastic quality product. Santa got this for $220 delivered and he said it's the biggest "set" Scalextric sells. My son loves it. He played with it all day yesterday and part of today. Of course, daddy loves it too.

If you want a slot car set, you can't go wrong with Scalextric. I was very impressed with the quality of it all. Plus the track is "rubbery" so that 5-year olds can step all over it with no consequence (thanks Jimpo for the tip). The car details are awesome. They hold the track very well, too.

    Happy new year everyone!

I love Scalextric. This year I bought the Cooper Challenge set for my friend's 4 year old son (I bought him the NASCAR oval last year), the Le Mans set for another friend and his kids, and the T2 set with the MG prototypes for myself as an add-on to my existing track. Along with that and a few new cars, I scored myself the Stirling Moss Vanwall and Juan Manuel Fangio Maserati 250 F special edition cars, and those cars run FANTASTIC! I love the Scalextric special edition cars, especially the Mark Donohue Sunoco Camaro. My cat spent an hour chasing them around the track.

A while back I was looking for a slot-car set. In all my looking and research and forums the Scalextric always got good reviews so I bought one with the Porsche and Mercedes with user-adjustable controllers. I like the larger than HO scale size and have really been impressed with everything about it, especially the details!

Just wish I had a larger house :D

I'm going to buy an expansion kit for my set in the next few days. My kids both got cash for Christmas and the first thing they said they wanted to buy was new cars for MY race track.

Glad you like the set Husker! Have you seen the banked curves you can buy? ;)
