Hi Thanks for the answer.... can I ask another question. Did your 296 come with a Lithium battery then, because you said something about a CPU in it, which would mean it was a BMS inside a Lithium Battery.... but from my understanding most the 296 have AGM Batteries (as mine does), but I see in the Owners Manual that is claims it was going to come with a Lithium Battery. So I'm wondering if yours had the Lithium Battery becasue I have a 2022 and it has the AGM Battery. I asking because we are working on testing our Lithium Battery in the Cars now. But the Ferrari Lithium Battery was known for failures alot of the time so I wonder if they stopped supplying it wit the 296s. Thanks.
Sorry for all the questions we are in the USA and just trying to understand a bit more about the Car. I see you are in Luxembourg. I assume they replace it with a new Lithium battery again? I'm thinking maybe the Euro Cars came with Lithium and in USA we get AGM.
Not at all. Yes, the put a new Lithium in. Car specs are different in the US, the charger f.ex. which is different.
In the UK (and I presume Europe) they switched over to AGM in mid 2023. My GTS has a Chinese made AGM… they attached a loose A4 sheet into the owners manual mentioning this change.
Thanks for posting that, another bit of info for us.... sorry for my long winded answers. I do this on Rennlist too, but we are doing alot of research and try to get those that can help involved. So the reasons for my questions is that on the 488 Pistas they put in the A123 System Lithium Batteries same as Porsche uses as well as McLaren, but each has their own Linbus protocol so you can't use the Ferrari Version in a Porsche, or McLaren because of a specific communication protocol specifically for each brands battery. The point here is that Ferrari had alot of problem with those Lithium Batteries and made a kit so a Pista owner could swap from Lithium to AGM (oddly) and save expense for the owner since their lihtium batteries are $4000 dollars each and they were going bad frequently... but Ferrari Charges $7000 dollar for that kit. So that is ridiculous oviously. So I believe they changed the system so you can easily swap a Lithium Batttery Car to an AGM in the newer Cars like the 296. So I am trying to see if the connections are any different for the Lihtium equipped Cars as compared to the AGM equipped Cars. So perhaps I can ask PieGre if he could get some images.... I'll make a post for him next. So in the mean time I have an AGM in my Car, and after a few more weeks of testing the Lead/Acid Battery in the Car I'll install our Antigravity Lithium Battery in the Car and actually try to get a higher amp hour battery in the car because it would be better to have the Low Voltage battery have more capacity anyway so it won't discharge quite as easily. Also our Lithium Battery has WIRELESS built-in Jump Starting so even if a user over-discharged the battery, they could press the wireless keyfob and have solid voltage again and get the system going without needing a charger.... so that could mean instant reboots IF the customer accidentally over-discharged the battery. Now at this point I have not seen any issues with the LV Lead/Acid battery...all is fine and the Car is doing a very good job of charging it about every 10 hours. So I'm not trying to say there is any issues whatsoever, but I just want to make the Lithium option available for all Cars if the buyer want to go that route in the future so we are doing that research.
PieGre, are you interested in doing a test for me if I send you one of our products called the Antigravity Battery Tracker? You are the only person who has the Lithium Battery in their 296, so I would like to get a little voltage data from you. The Battery Tracker is a cool little Bluetooth Device that sends battery data to your phone. It cannot harm the car at all, only draw 1 milliamp of energy so is absolutely inconsequential to putting draw on the battery, and what is does it simply tracks all the battery voltage, shows the level of voltage drop during starting and does a few other cool things and sends that data to your phone. So you can actually check your batteries status without ever getting in the car as long ar you withing about 8-9 meters of the car the bluetooth will link and send the data. The only issues is you do have to access your batttery and attach the Battery Trackers fork terminals behind the nut on the battery post clamps (pos and neg terminals). So to install it you would need to loosen the battery clamp nut (not take it off) and slide the fork terminal behind it and re-tighten, it very simple but it tight in there as I found out installing mine.... Now I fully understand some people don't want to mess with accessing the battery so its no problem if your not interested. Anyway we could send you this product and you keep it then just send us some screenshot of a few weeks of data. If interested let me know.
It no worries PieGre, not a big deal, you are the only one I saw who had the lithium battery version so was trying to get that info. But I don't want you worrying about any warranty. Thanks.
The 296 have all Lithium batteries (weight), whereas the "classic" 296 have now AGM batteries. None is better than the other according to my dealer.
Well, Dealers are not knowledgeable about Lithium Batteries... there are many benefits to lithium, and they are not the same as AGM whatsoever... but I don't need to go into that. Dealers just don't know much about these parts, they know about ordering and selling Ferraris. Also, Ferrari have had so many failures with thier Lithium Batteries in the Pistas and other Ferrari Lithium Equipped Cars that yes these dealers might try to say its not a better battery because their Lithium batteries are quite bad... We already have our own aftermarket Lithium Battery which are not failure prone like Ferrari Batteries... as we have proven out in the Porsches, and Ferraris, McLarens that use our products. Also the Pagani Eutopia uses our Battery as well as the new Ford GTD that will be coming out. So that is why I was asking about anybody who has a Lithium equipped 296 since in the USA they all seem to be AGM... but I have AGM so I am doing the testing on that. Now I just need some data on a Lithium equipped 296.
