Will post pics tonight. My 2007 599 arrived today from Ferrari of Newport a few days ahead of schedule. She is very nice, but the first impression was not so great. It seems the car was sitting outside for a while before being shipped. The outside was absolutely filthy, and the interior also had dirty spots on the tan leather all over. The dealer was very upset and said to have it detailed and send them the tab. But someone seriously dropped the ball at Newport. I bought the car through Ferrari of Washington. The transporters noted on pickup that the car was very dirty. I'm surprised a dealer would allow a car to leave in that condition.

Also missing was one key and temp plates.

Congrats on the new arrival and at the same time sorry for your troubles with the cars current condition. Make sure you go for the "complete" and "extra" goodies when you bring it in for its needed shine.

    Ankur,
You are fairly close to Brandan
I would call Dan in a heartbeat and have him pick it up for a full detail

    Congrats on the new machine
Give me a call when you can
    I want to see it

    Congrats.

Cant believe a dealer would send out such a car like that...Very disappointing.

    congrats & wow
dirty is one thing, but a missing key (one of the oem chipped keys) for a brand new car, would be a genuine concern to me IMO
i'd be ALL OVER the dealer about that single item

They are working on the location of the second key. Also I didnt receive the title. I think this picture sums up what the car looked like. I had my camera out to take pics, but after seeing how dirty it was, I just put the camera away.

We see this all the time. What would it have cost to make DoctorJ happy? What's a reasonable detail effort cost? $500? It wouldn't have had to be pristine.

DoctorJ, shake it off. You've got an amazing car. Call your favorite local detailer, get your baby shined up.

Don't spend too much time on the dealers. In fact, can you delegate the responsibility of getting the key and the title? These dealers have already put a bad taste in your mouth. No need to poison yourself further.

Congrats on the car. I'm sure FOW will make things right.

Who were you dealing with there?

Ferrari of Washington will make it right, no doubt. The guy I am dealing with there has been very helpful throughout the entire process. It was just surprising that Newport would send a car to a customer this way.

Here are some pics of her coming off the truck.

not surprising to me; Newport is the worst Fcar dealer I've seen (and I've seen a lot of them).

at any rate, congrats on the car! :D:D:D

I believe it was scheduled for this weekend, no? so it arrived a few days early? :)

looks like that's a half ass enclosed transport job....... and guessing from your pics.. it rained somewhere, sometime....

no car would arrive clean in that.

Wow that certainly puts a damper on getting your new (to you) 599....No excuse for ANY car to arrive in that condition(I know its only dirt) but I would be pretty pissed if I paid 200K plus and it was delivered like that. Not having the title and extra key sounds like they just got the cash and sent it off.:( I would be going over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure there are no other surprises,ie( wheels curbed, paint blemishes, tool kit complete and all books).

+1 on the above....I hope the transport guy had covers on your seats as by the looks of his pants it looks like he peed himself or was sleeping under his transporter.:(

On the plus side as soon as you get it cleaned up and start driving it all bad thoughts will fade.

The transport was enclosed from all sides, they had pushed everything open when I took that picture. It was completely covered. Just thought I would clarify.

The temp plates are being overnighted. The extra key, car cover, and tool kit were not included, and will be taken care of by Ferrari of Washington.

...i'm sure even these few things can't change you excitement really!! enjoy :)

Congratulations. A classic beauty. Many happy and safe miles with it.

As to the delivery: This dealer managed to spoil your "moment suprême" to some degree. He should do everything in his power to make this right.

Some advice: Give the car a good wash yourself. Nothing more rewarding than cleaning your own F car. Makes you really appreciate the detail that went into its design and driving away in it after you've done the job is such a great feeling.

    Cheers,

    M

Congrats on the beautiful car!! I am sure you will get it clean and the dealership will honor the detail bill and get you what is missing. I understand your feelings, it is a bummer that you had to go through the waiting/anticipation and feel burned. But, you have an awesome car and all will be well!

Curious to hear your impression on the car.

    I'm jealous!
I had a 550 that was a chore to own....thinking my next Ferrari will likely be a well-sorted 599, once the economy has improved.
