Two F-Chat members forwarded me the link copied below of a lovely 330 GTC that Mr. Sheehan just took on consignment.

    http://www.ferraris-online.com/cars/FE-330GTC-09593/main.shtml

I immediately called Mr. Sheehan and he soon returned my call, but it was not a good time for him. he said he'd e-mail the details within 2 hours.

Unfortunately, I never heard from him, so I e-mailed and I'm pretty anxious to hear from back him! (I know he's a really busy man.)

Anyway, he told me the car was at Lake Forest Sportscars, and that immediately rang a bell because I had looked at their ad many times for this car (the SN they list is incorrect, but there is no doubt it is the same car) link here:

    http://www.carbuyer.com/moreinfo.phtml?key=782618

In the registry it shows the car to be originally red, redone in blue around 1998, after the restoration for sale at $82k.

Does anyone know this car? Any help will be appreciated!

    Asking prices:

    1999: $ 82,000 (Ferrari of Central Florida)
    2003: $103,900 (Lake forest Sportscars)
    2004: $129,500 (Mr. Sheehan)

Yeah, before I had even read the history of the car that you have posted, my response was going to be: asking price seems WAY high. When I first saw the car, I could see that it was nice, but to command that price, I feel like it would really have to be approaching concours condition. 330 GTC is pretty good shape are firmly sub $100K.
but, certainly looks like a nice one. I love the color.

Great looking car, but priced much too high in my opinion.

Looks nice... They blurred out the car # and owners name in the concours picture, but you can see the reflection on the piece of furniture... pointless.

Why not go straight to the "source"? Call Tyler Dean at Lake Forest. I saw a GTC there a few weeks ago and it was stunning!

I called them, after being on hold for a while, someone got on and told me they had not had "a car like that for a long time", that the owner had removed it from their consignment.

Bit over restored for my taste. But, a beautiful car nevertheless. I'd be afraid to drive it.

Clifford, if you call Tyler he may very well be able to get to the owner. Just a thought.

Lake Forest advertises a different serial number (#9717). Still the same car?

See the first post, it appears to be the same car, same color, same wheels, same condition, and that crash bar across the nose is very distinctive.

The paintwork is beautiful, but inside the leather looks a bit scuffed. The interior definitely isn't concours, in my opinion, which makes me question the price.

Yeah, thats what showed in the register, so clearly that was a typo or something. It has to be the same car with that unusual crash bar on its nose.

Just spoke with Mr. Sheehan, he says sold for $117.5K.

    oh well...

I'm too damn slow on the trigger. I'm worried I'll never get one, but honestly, jumping and getting a bad one is probably worse than none at all. I need a little consolation here.....

Just curious, is 7917 still at FOH? The last entry at Kerrys is for 9/2001. I'm curious what color it was originally too - KCs database shws a Bronze color as original, but then painted resale red in 89.

    Cheers,
    Jon

s/n 9717 was a bronze/gold color when it was here in houston in the earlier 80's. it is currentyly red/black and was back in 96. the red paint was old and tired so it must have been repainted in the mid eighties. the car is not on the market and is being restored.

I have a good friend that owns a 330 GTC that is at least as nice as Sheehan's. It is a dark grey metallic with a dark oxblood leather interior with alloy rims. It had a complete bare metal respray just a few years ago.

It is not for sale, but he has mentioned that he might sell it, if you are interested, let me know, it is a fantastic car and the owner is a true gentlemen.

The car is located in KS.

    Chris,

That sounds like a gorgeous color combination. Do you have any pictures?

Very interesting and good looking ebay car!

It looks original. I love unrestored cars when it comes to cosmetics. Notice the hood fit on that car, its far from perfect but is probably exactly how it came from Ferrari.

My concern however would be that it has only been driven 36k miles in 38 years. 947 miles per year average and the ad states it been "stored". I wonder how long its been since the car was frequently driven? If the car has never had a valve job, with that low a mileage and infrequent use you can bet the valve seals are shot and its likely to smoke a fair amount.

Not necessarily true on the smoke. My 330 2+2 had 39.5k miles when I bought it and had been essentially stored for the prior 20 years - 2,000 miles in that time. Perfect compression, not a trace of smoke after adding 2,500+ more miles in 18 months.

However, carbs and engine seals and gaskets....another story.
Carbs and crank case were full of sludge, and the engine had five or six separate oil leaks that showed up as I began to drive it regularly. Long story short....I rebuilt the carbs and renewed all seals and gaskets at the front of the engine, valve covers, and crank case, and installed the "might as well do it now" new timing chain. $$$ for old Ferraris, any way you look at it. It runs perfectly now, dont regret a dollar I've spent.

Isn't it funny that they have lots and lots of photos but none of the engine?
