Some of you have already read a bit on this event in the Racing and Euro section, but there wasn't much said about how the event itself looked so... here you go.

The event was organized for a selected group of Shell customers and various other invited guests - limited to (officially) some 1500 people. It lasted the whole day starting off with Marc Gene entering the event tent in an F430 putting on a display of stunning looks and sounds (of the car of course! ;)) and taking his place on the scene to talk a bit about his impressions of Poland (nice but cold ;)), racing career, his life and role/work at Ferrari. Shell then went on to their marketing part of the interview...

When the interview with Gene finished everyone had some time to roam about the premises and admire the views. Several Ferraris did some laps - amongst these was an F40 and a 500 F2 - cars the likes of which Poland probably greeted the first time ever! It was a beautiful day (although somewhat chilly) so the sight of these coming out from a corner, gleaming rosso in the bright sun was just breathtaking. Sound? I don't think I even have to explain... :) Apart from the displayed road Ferraris, which turned up in a 9 strong group (F40, 328GTS belonging to fellow FChatter PoleApart, 4x F430, F430 Spider, 360 Spider and 360 Modena) were the aforementioned 500 F2, F2007, a 360 NGT and an older F1 car (sorry, didn't take pics to be able to identify now :(). Some other displays were also set up with a Mercedes CL, Lotus 7 replica, Seat Leon WTCC, Honda S2000 etc being shown. One stand belonged to Java Design, which displayed a Brabus SL, Brabus ML, Poland's official fastest car - a heavily modded Supra.. and some lovely ladies! :D

Schumacher's long awaited arrival at about 1pm saw him being engulfed by fans and press. He did a press interview, although reluctantly answering the most obvious question - his future role in Ferrari. Asked about his opinion on F1's Polish rookie Robert Kubica, he failed to show enthusiasm and said that there are a let of new young drivers in F1 - maybe owing to the fact that F1 cars have become easier to drive or maybe due to talent; too early to tell.

There was a small interval to all that 'Ferraridom' with a car stunt show. The driver, apart from the usual burnouts, drifting, slalom between people, showed an impressive piece - changing the car's front wheel all while it was still doing donuts! :) See the pics...

Although Schumi was expected to take his place behind the wheel of Ferrari's F1, that place was in fact taken by Marc Gene, Ferrari's test driver. The first 2 laps were done by the 500 F2 and F2007 together, then the older car came in and its 'newer version' had room to show what it is capable of - easily beating the track's previous record by some 10s and setting a new one at 1:14,09. Michael Schumacher finally appeared to do some laps in a Ferrari, albeit the road going F430, giving a ride to some of the 'selected' VIPs. Those soon being over he went into his appartment and came out to be picked up by and Alfa and speeded off to the airport several minutes later. Altogether he spent some 3-4hrs in Poland :(

With the track clear, the owners could again hop into their cars and have some more fun :) And that was basically it for the Ferrari part of the event. Later on a 1/8th mile drag race for all willing to take part (which I still regret I didn't do - even though I would've been dead last), a superbike race simulation and Celebrities' Laps were organized...

Some very nice photos there, great cars and some rather tasty ladies. I guess the stunt show was Terry Grant judging by the car?? I watched Terry doing his wheel change whilst spinning the car stunt at the Autosport Show in the UK - great fun to watch. I wonder what his record time is now??

Strange to see the UK plated F430 out in Poland too, what is the story behind that car coming to the event when its so far from home??

Ah yes... I recall a Terry Grant truck there, just didn't know that was the guy's name. No idea with the UK F430. Ferrari turnout was altogether low, with only 2 PL Fcars :( Przemek's 328GTS and that 360 Modena with the questionable aerograph art.

The Black polish Enzo would have made that event a lot better, But the F40 and F1 cars are nice, great pics!

Yes, I know - although I'm not sure the organizational aspect of the whole event would meet the expectations of that owner.

It truly was fun, mainly due to seeing and most of all HEARING an F1 for the first time. If you check out the Euro threads there were a lot of "buts" though.. I'm still happy that I was able to go - unforgettable! :)
