The Shell V-Power Tour is going on in Seattle, and I stopped by the Shell station at Denny and Queen Anne Ave today to see the show. They are promoting the new V-Power premium gasoline, and had a real Ferrari F-1 car there. Not sure the vintage...but pretty cool.

They were giving out discount coupons on gas, and had a contest for freebies, including t-shirts, beach balls, and gift cards for free gasoline.

    Here are some photos:

    Mike,
I've seen a couple Ferrari F1 cars up close (two of our local members own them), this was a REAL F1 car...okay, maybe never raced (with a pedigree), but this was probably a test car, or back up.

No motor in the chassis, but real CF panels, suspension, carbon brakes, etc. Even a real Momo steering wheel with all the switches and stuff. Don't believe everything you read on the Net.... ;)

I'm going to try and make it over to the Kirkland Shell station today around 2:00-2:30PM in my Boxer.

Hope to see some of you there and maybe we can win some free gas or other Ferrari/Shell prizes.

I could sure use some FREE GAS after blowing through a whole tank (29- gallons) on the Olympic Peninsula drive.

    Dave,

My apologies, I was just reading what was on the Shell website (I'll copy below):

You're right though, you can't always believe what you read on the net (even when it's from the company who is hosting the event)

I'm just jealous because the closest it will be to me will be a couple hundred miles away.

Oh well, thank you for keeping me honest, I should have said that it was a replica of Schumacher's car. Again, my apologies.

    Mike

Imagine my embaressment, that my company gas card is ExxonMobil! :)

They'll only pay for "Regular" gas also..... darn the hard luck.

I like the way those marketing blurbs make EVERYTHING sound exciting.......

LOL! They were here LAST week!

I never heard a thing about it....now when Mario was here with Texaco......

I do get my morning coffee from Shell, as well as firewood for the BBQ pit, so I guess I do buy SOME types of energy from them...the clerk is an old Pakistani guy with one eye poked out. Doesn't look anything like those babes..

Yes. It is a real car. I've sat in it at the French Quarter Classic, and it was real. No engine and running gear, but absolutley real. It was a car that was crashed in testing, and rebuilt as a display car. The Shell reps were unsure who's it was or who crashed it. The term "replica" in"web" site is misleading. It may refer to the fact that it has no engine and no running gear, or that it was not not originally Shuey's race car.

But its real, and its fantastic. Especially to sit in. Totally amazed at how low you suit and how "perfect" the peddles and steering feel. And incredibly light. One person can pick the front or rear up, easy.

Saw it again today (Monday), they had the nose cone off...interesting to see the CF on the backside of the panels...they claim the rolling chassis only weighs about 450lbs! The guys moving it around the country really don't know anything about it...and whether it is real, fake or otherwise. They said other apparently RKI's felt it was real too...thanks for filling in the blanks on this car!

    Here's some photos from today.

    I met Dave H. (328) and Dave T. (348) at the station.

It was kinda lame though, because the Shell guys finally showed up with their trailer after 3PM and they didn't have time to unload the F1 car or any of the games for prizes because they had to move it over to the Mariner stadium by 5:30PM.

We did get some free hot dogs and gas discount coupons.

Again, sorry for the confusion and trouble I may have caused with my post. I wasn't trying to discredit, nor contradict anyone. I was surprised at the quality of the information on the Shell site regarding specifically what they meant by "replica". I can tell from the pictures that it is still a wonderful vehicle.

As far as the Shell folks not rolling the car out for you to really walk around it yesterday, you should have tried the Governor of California's trick and tell 'em that the rolling chassis only weighs 450 lbs, what are they, a bunch of girly men? :)

In all seriousness, nice cars guys. That was a nice 512 boxer there too. You guys probably attracted more attention than the V-Power trailer when you were there.

    Take care!

    Mike
