    That's what i think...
There is no need to have them on race cars, as they are lost in acres of adverts, and on the road, everybody knows it's a Ferrari anyway.
To me it's the cars' gold necklace.

    What do you think ?

Might as well not bother painting the road car red, or having the ferrari wheel center caps becourse every one knows its a ferrari. As far as racing is conserned if all the cars were not badged up and were all the same colour, which one wuld be the ferrari?
I think the sheilds look good, part becourse no other road cars have such a feature as the side sheilds. But i do think that enamel sheilds are the best looking.I think its all about attention to details.
Out of interest was there an option for the F40,F50 or the Enzo to have no sheilds on

Hmmm. It's popular to de-badge Volkswagens; first time I ever heard it suggested that we should de-badge Ferraris.

FWIW my VWs have all their badges, though i have considered a de-badges grille for my Corrado just because no one knows what it is in the first place:

I'm guessing you won't like the present I had made for my father's 65th birthday (he owns the Ferrari):

Edit: now I thnik I understand: we're talking about the large sheilds on the sides. Forgive a newbie. I'm also of two minds: I like 'em, but glad the old man's came without 'em. Also like the titanium grey for the same reason, understated, not to mention how hard red paint is to maintain....

Wouldn't buy one without them. Details are everything on a Ferrari. The shields proudly evidence their racing heritage and look fantastic on the car.

Personally, I couldnt care less about the racing heritage of the sheilds...I happen to think they look great...especially against darker exterior colours. Very striking, indeed!

Like all matters of personal taste, some will like the look, some won't. And dont forget about the very small percentage of "purists" who believe they shouldnt be on any Ferrari without a sufficient racing pedigree, lol. They are sure to get their knickers tied up in a knot about most things....

Goldy is right its all personal taste I have them on both cars recently converted from the stick on Shield to the metal enamel shields which look so much better, there was a week between where I had no shields on the car and it looked bare in the fender area I think it breaks the darker colors up personal opinion.

I didn't order my 360 with shields because they interfere with the flowing lines of the car. Also, I like to keep it "stealthy". :)

Of course, the 360 turns practically invisible without the sheilds, being such a plain Jane design and all.....just blends right in!

Now, if you can only dump those Tubis...it will be practically undistinguishable from an Accord ;)

Shields are very nice. As a matter of fact I like them so much I've been thinking of putting them on the Jag. :)

I think the shields look great in any color. But I don't care that much for the stick on, non-factory ones. Just my .02.

So for all of you that don't like it, buy your F-car without it and quit losing sleep over it. Serious, go pick on the fiero kit cars.

No Chaz there wasnt an option to delete the shields, although back when the old man was alive the sheilds only went on the race cars (or the road cars that were intendid to go racing)

Shields are cooolll. I think it is about what YOU want. I guess 99% of ALL ferrari owners do not give a damn about the impression it gives to other people, ferrari and non- ferrari owners. People either LOVE them or HATE them and you get the extreme of both emotions. The key is this...if you bought it to impress others, it won't and it says that you are not impressive. If you bought it because you LOVE them then shields don't mean anything, present or not. We have to start seeing these cars as CARS and not message or image conveyors, even if others are unable to do the same.

I like the shields. I think they add something special to the car. If I wanted a true race car I would not want air conditioning, power seats, power steering, etc. I like that Ferrari have put out a nice total package for a street car in the F430. I think if you want stealth, go for an E55 AMG or M5. JMHO.

I did not like the shields and ordered my 360 spider without them because I thought they should be kept for racing. But when my car was sitting beside Scud's on the weekend, I have to say I really liked the look of the shields and will now order them for my 430 spider.

from a certain perspective, everything that makes a Ferrari different from a Porsche is kitsch. That said, thank god for kitsch.

As they say somewhere - I dont want no steenken badges! Besides they are bling! But of course bling is a question of taste too and chrome exhaust tips are now common. They used to be bling. What will be next...Coffee cans?

When I started shopping for my car, I knew the color and options I wanted and factory badges were one of them. I love the look of them.
