This guy is dead wrong. A Ferrari without factory shields is just a poser, pure and simple.

Maybe, but be gentle. Not all of us can afford, or perhaps don't want to pay for, new Ferrari's. Scuderia shields have only been a compulsory option for half a decade or so. Anything older and you're more likely than not to find cars without. Many of us want shields on our older cars now. I'm sure whoever bought my 612 new in 2005 thought the car looked worse with them, but in 2013, I want shields on my 2005. Ferrari owners and enthusiasts may know they're not real, but the entire rest of the world does not. I'm happy with the way they look. I'm happy with the response they get. And I'm not going to avoid aftermarket shields, which I've added to two of my three Fcars, because the community is split over whether they're appropriate.

    Details?

I have a set of Yoshields that I bought that must have been stored wrong because the paint on one is kind of messed up. I think I can heat it up and polish to fix but everytime I go to put them on the car I talk myself out of it.

I bought another set off of the F-Chat member who claimed to have some nice one that he makes. I ordered and he said he only had the deluxe ones available and that I would be very happy with them. They are beautiful but they are very thick, I want to say 3/16ths or so so there is no way in hello that i would put them on my car. I though about sending them back to him but they ARE nice to look at on the shelf but only an idiot would put them on their car because they would stick up so far and probably whistle!! LOL

So I am running stealth mode, with no shields! haha...as if one can be stealth in a Ferrari :)

How thick are the Yoshi shields 1/8? And are they aluminum?

OK, you posers. Anyone here who is not a current or former F1 driver rip the shields off your vehicles right now. I am defrocking the lot of you posers.

    Oh the humanity!

Thinner than 1/8 and beveled at the edges so they look recessed. They are not aluminum to the best of my knowledge, perhaps some type of chromed base metal. I would run some polished aluminum ones if they were available.

    Sheilds?

Sheilds whether factory or aftermarket are for poseurs. I guess if you have to have a red tan ferrari driving with your paddle crap to the local trendy spot sheilds work great.

I saw 3 ferraris last sunday on the road, they were the slow moving cars out there, parade vehicles, yep they all had sheilds.

To think I thought some people just liked the look of them on their car. Who knew? I guess you have to pry off every horse and name on your car with a screwdriver to be considered a hard core auto enthusiast, or would that just be posing as such? This is getting confusing.

Excluding added shields .. how many times does one car have to have FERRARI or the Horsie or both? It's not like any Fcar is going to be mistaken for a Toyota.

I love how this little adornment is such a big deal. It's just a little horse. I hate to imagine the debate if Ferrari had stripes like Porsche with the name emblazoned on the side.

    Heh,funny you should mention this.
A mate, who changes his cars' as most of us change our undies, bought a 348GTB,he then set about,as you've succinctly shown,11 extra various methods of identifying his car.
He had extra shields, plastic Ferrari signs and 348 stickers all over this thing.
It was soooooo embarrasing, luckily we live far enough from other F car owners that no other person could witness his,um,handiwork.
He then sold/swapped for a car more suited,a heavily spoilered Porker 911 of some sort.

Yoshields were approx. 1.5mm = 1/16". Not aluminum.

Jim's are at least as good as Yoshi's. I had Yoshi's on my first, and have Jim's on my third Fcar currently and can't tell the difference from memory alone. Very substantial and high quality.
