If anyone has the standard black shift knob and the white lettering is worn out or faded, I found a pretty effective repair. I used a bright white liquid whiteout pen. Simply dab the white out in the numbers, let it dry then use your fingernail and a rag to wipe off the black parts. The whiteout sticks real well to the grooved lettering but comes off the black easily. It seems to last for about four months or so and then a little touch up may be needed. I am sure there are better ways to do this, but this is a quick fix (5 minutes) that is very easy and cheap to do. Hope this helps someone. I like that idea - I will do it on my TR I replaced my aluminum 355 knob with a chrome one from one of the Fchat sponsors after replacing 2 scratched up stock ones - the chrome looks much better, and has never scratched. Any black paint pen will fix the lettering, or a thin point sharpie
