    Good morning,

I am working on my car and I have a question about how the shift linkage is oriented (see photos). I have a 6spd 360 (european). All shifts are smooth/easy except for 1st to 2nd. It does shift but it feels like there is a small notch before it completely seats into 2nd gear. It's a little hard to describe the sensation, but i have to shift and then "feel" the right point where I know it's seated/engaged properly (this takes me approx 300-600ms). It does not do this down from 3rd to 2nd. Otherwise, the shifts are good and I do not have an issue with any gear engagement. I was looking around for a root cause for this and looking at the underside of the car, I found a few things that look weird to me, but I do not know if they are incorrect because I have not done this before. I also looked through the parts diagrams and I cannot find any part numbers for my questions below. I have replaced the bushing in the cabin as well as replaced the shift linkage in its entirety (both in 2021), and annually flushed the gearbox oil. I believe that a shift linkage adjustment will help resolve my 1-2 issue but I also want to see if I can clean up the linkage under the car if it is indeed oriented incorrectly.

1-what is the proper way to secure the shift linkage to the bracket at the bottom of the oil pan? Currently it has two gear clamps and some rubber on the inside of it to prevent tearing. It looks like it works okay but I was wondering if a plastic or fiberglass "saddle" shaped piece would work better
2-is there a better way to insulate the cable from the edge of the frame where it passes by the motor mount? I currently have some foam zip tied. This makes sense but I am curious if there is a better way.

If I am just missing this in the parts diagram, please LMK but I did not see any parts for this on table 37 (outside gearbox controls) or table 22 (pumps and oil sump) so I am not sure what is correct,

I used Zip ties on mine. Don't use the hose clamps. The metal in there could cause problems. Zip ties should hold it in the channel well enough.

The first to second shift issue. That will be solved by adjusting the shift cables. It's more of an art than a science, done by lengthening or shortening the one on the drivers side of the shift turret at the shift turret or external shift mechanism at transmission. Mechanic can help if daunting.

While those clamps are incorrect this is very unlikely to cause any issues, considering the rubber under the clamps and a fact that the cables are really strong and will not get collapsed by such clamps. But it's easy enough to check - just remove the clamps and see if it makes any difference.

If everything worked well before you changed the cables and problem started with new cables, poor adjustment is most likely the problem. Otherwise it could also be transmission/synchro issue. To confirm that it's most likely adjustment problem:
    1) Disconnect both cables at the actuator
    2) Make sure that you can shift inside the cabin through all gears smoothly
    3) See if you can shift through all the gears correctly by hand using the actuator arms under the car. If 1-2 shift is hard, you have transmission issue, otherwise it's likely adjustment issue
    4) Reconnect upper shift cable to the actuator since it's not causing such problems and proceed to adjust the lower shift cable (adjust cable marked in blue)

Also note, that Ferrari gearbox has a tendency to shift hard into second until warm. Does the problem continue once the transmission warms up? If problem goes away when hot, it could be Ferrari "factory" behavior.

Ping me off line if you need help with adjusting the blue cable, as it takes some skill to do it correctly.

Thanks. The car would barely shift into 2nd before the bushing/shift linkage replacement. You could get it in to 2nd if you pulled hard to one side of the gate, but after multiple gearbox flushes and replacing those 2x parts, it is nearly perfect, just that little bit of notchy feel going into 2nd that I mentioned.

Here is the sequence: lift off throttle, clutch in, shift from 1-2, feel it go into the gate, then feel a slight secondary engagement that it is fully "seated" (not sure what the right term is for that feeling, clutch out. it happens at all operating temperatures. i think it is a linkage adjustment issue that it just needs a little fine tuning but will see after we play with adjustments.

thanks, appreciate the replies. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing/crazy seeing that there does not appear to be a factory part for this.
