91 348 I just found a nut and piece of bolt end on the ground. It broke off the shaft that the shifter 'block' slides on at the transaxle. Ricambi and Eurospares do not have part numbers for this piece. Does anyone have a source for the part, or had luck repairing it somehow? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure what it goes to or what it is made of, but maybe a new threaded piece could be welded to it.
It can probably be drilled, tapped and a new stud (I would go with at least Grade 10.9) screwed in with strong locktite.
Agree that this could be repaired by a good machinist but not sure of the best method without having the part in-hand. The real purpose of my post is just to commiserate with the OP over the extraordinary effort these cars exert to find new and interesting ways to break while we're not even driving them. Most of the problems I've had with my car manifested themselves while the car sat untouched in the garage. Arrggh! Hope you can find someone to help solve this for you. It's not a huge deal for someone with the tools and skills, but that's getting harder to find these days.
I cut it off flush and drilled and tapped it. I only went 1/4 inch with a hardened bolt as I didnt want to risk weakening the shaft part. Time will tell if 1/4 inch bolt will be enough. If it doesnt work I will replace witha 5/16 threaded rod and nut. One note though.... somehow it threw my gate out a bit and 4-5 became 2-3. I adjusted cables at trans end and all is fine now, but that made no sense as the shifting parts never changed positioned, just went from a nut to a bolt, weird.
