Ferraristi, Oh, the original problem on why this thread was started is that the original silent block on the engine side had deteriorated leaving very little rubber between the inner and outer metal sleeves. This led to very sloppy shifting and while the gear selector was trying to get the proper gear, the shift shaft was moving in the empty space of the silent block. This excessive play would not let the selector on the transmission side move far enough left or right to select the proper gear. I went with the Delrin bushings made by Verell (Fchat member) and have been very happy with the precision of the shifting. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
As a young lad, a father of a close racing friend of mine took me to a race track in his Alfa Romeo Julia Super. I can't tell you how I loved the sound of the transmission coming back through the gear stick. It was wonderful. I sometimes wish my Testa did this. I believe that if i replace the silent blocks with solid I will get that magical Alfa gearbox sound back. Has anyone tried this at all? P
Hi Shamile, have you seen the asking price for the Miami Vice white Testa recently...... Oh YEAH...... P
Ferraristi, Hey Phil, $1.75 Million USD Who knows, he just might get it. I guess that would be an end to timing belt threads. lol Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
Ferraristi, I have changed both silent bloc bushing to the Delrin. You really don't get any vibration through the shift lever but it does transmit the gear noise through....which is kinda cool sounding. I personally like it. Even if I didn't, it's a great trade off for the precise feel in the shifter. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice!
