    Has anybody shipped their FCar to Europe for a few weeks vacation and then shipped the car home again? Is this even financially viable? I am in Halifax so should be pretty close to a shipping point. Renting a car such as my 355 is prohibitively expensive for a driving vacation.

    There have been a few threads such as recent one in the 550 section from a guy who did Ferrari's Targa Florio retro - some even discuss costs ! One issue that comes up to complicate it is negotiating road insurance - probably an easy five thousand bucks in total

    have a good friend who was invited to show his car at Villa d'Este in Lake Como Italy in 2010. It so happened his car was being prepared in USA just prior to so it left from NYC then back to Canada a few months later for an all in cost of 12k . Not sure about insurance for road while there however..

    The cost of shipping back and forth
    Insurance
    Hassle and time is not worth it

    I shipped my car to Europe from Montreal for a vacation - then stayed on board the ship. Very cheap. Insurance from Norwich Union in England. Unfortunately, this ship no longer sails from Canada.

    Very interesting. There is lots of RoRo traffic (BMW, Mercedes, audi, Vw all ship at least all Canadian bound cars to Halifax) from here to Europe so checking on that aspect. How much was the insurance ?

    Sorry, I don't remember. I ended up writing it off by driving it over a cliff in southern Spain.
