In all the articles on the operation and failings of these items (ferrari part number 158742),I cannot find any description of how to pull them apart ,especially if you wish to fit new gears into them or check out the electric motor or connections. The few photos that have been shown after fitting new gears appear to have a white band around them which could mean they have been cut in two and then reassembled with a cover/reinforcing band, and access to the electrics looks like the top cover has to be cut off for access,if they have to be cut it would be a great help to know just how and where to do it and how to reassemble them securely. Are there any threads that deal with this aspect in our files ,it is an area that is causing continuous annoyance with our cars, the dreaded warning lights.
On a lighter note I have had the fuel pumps and associated flanges, gaskets ,fuel lines etc replaced in my 550,Oct 1997,and used the repro aluminium cover plates( Ferrari 170510)and fuel lines etc from GT Car Parts, rubber support for each fuel pump from Ricambi(Ferrari 170511),gasket Ferrari 126835 and tube Ferrari 170513 from Ferrari, the pumps were a problem as Bosch 0 580 453 427 was not available but 0 580 453 443 is and suitable at only $114.80 Australian including tax,and delivered the next day!! I would like to thank all contributors to this site for their help etc in making this information available, the Ferrari parts service in 2 months could not respond to enquiries as to whether the parts were available or not and my car would still be stuck in the dealers workshop, the only benefit being free parking.

No as I don't have any indication there is an issue with my actuators however I have kept the reference just in case and when I get my rear shocks done I may remove all 4 actuators and have them up graded.

Dave, thanks for the post info its all clear now,I have just had a new actuator fitted and will get the original one repaired ,I dont have to reinvent the wheel.I have a 1922 car with adjustable hydraulic shockers which work well, the main difference being they are all done individually when stationary and your backside is used to determine the setting, there are no warning lights!
