Right as the title says... I am trying to replace my rear shock obsorber bushes... For the life of me I simply can't get access to take the drop link off so I can then remove the rest of the bolt to remove the shock absorber..

I am so close to sticking a grenade in the wheel arch.... Anyone have any good tips to help before I hurt the cars feelings with abusive language

From what I see and remember. Drop link has a profile where you can put a 17 or 16mm and remove it from the bolt. Then you can try to unscrew the bolt out of there and maybe tapping slowly on the other side (thread side) with a rubber mallet or put a different nut on it and tap on it.

To answer your question: It does just pull out. It must be rusted / stuck inside.

Also, use rust penetrating catalyst not lube spray to remove it. Spray liberally and let it stay for a couple of hours...

The bottom bolt for shock absorber is screwed in place on the 430 I think,. back off the nut a little and put a socket onto the bolt head. Then put weight on the socket and the same time give the nut a sharp tap.

the other problem i have is that i cant take the whole drop link off because where the 17mm spanner would insert is facing toward wishbone and hub ... i have tried giving the threaded side a knock ect but still no luck i can barely get a spanner on the other side and gave it a mighty tug ! and still wont budge .... dont you just hate it when its looking at you and a simple task becomes so annoying

It’s been a while since I had mine off, but I think you need a thin spanner to get it off

Why can't you get the open end of a wrench on the drop link end of the bolt and bang it with a heavy hammer to get the long bolt to turn enough to get to the flats to unscrew the drop link? As mentioned by Mario, soak it with Kroil, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, etc. Not WD40! You might have to soak it over night. Heat the area that the bolt is going through with a propane torch. The bolt is obviously seized so time to get out the big heavy soft hammers, cheater bars, and pipes to slip over the ends of the open end wrench, etc. What about using a pitman arm, ball joint, or tie rod type puller on the end of the bolt to push it through?
Do not give up. You will get it.

Then take off the nut at the end of the lower shock bolt: 19mm on left, 18mm on right.

The shock bolt just slides out (unless it is rusted/stuck in) :
