Shockingly unknowledgeable guy buys F-car

I'd love to visit that showroom and talk with the salespeople. Sadly, most times when I go into a showroom with exotics, I know more about the cars than the folks working there. And that's not saying I'm an encyclopedia of car knowledge. But it always makes me happy to talk to knowledgeable salespeople who are enthusiasts, rather than uppity grumps who have no business being in the business.

OT: Also drives me nuts that there is a Countach LP500S with 5000S emblems on it in the the Auto Museum in San Diego. That is just ridiculous.

 

This reminds me somewhat of a "friend" of mine who recently bought a really nice 944 Turbo. Hasn't "really"(when I mean really I mean car goons like us) been into Porsches, or cars for that matter. So he went from a POS Nissan Sentra to a 944T, doesn't know how to drive standard, has never really driven anything faster than his 17sec Sentra and when he did drive standard he’s screwed up terribly. So, he buys this car and wrecks it within 24 hours of purchase! That just has to be a new world record or something! Supposedly he was taking a corner fast and kicked the back end out, over corrected and went into a ditch hitting a telephone poll and now needs a new fender, rad, and bumper. He says it’s no big deal that it happened, but come on now! Now, he can’t believe that a new front fender will cost some 600 dollars, and he doesn’t want to do any of the research about the car and is always asking my friend the “walking encyclopedia of knowledge’’ what he should do. My friend is under the premise that he only bought the car to look cool e.g. image car. If you ask me I believe it too. IMO, ppl who buy cars like this (F-car and 944T) to just “look cool” buy it for all the wrong reasons, and end up turning the car into a beater/lemon. But hey, it’s his money and he can use however he wants too.
