    Hi guys,

I'll be heading to Vegas in a couple of weeks with some friends from Australia. One thing we all really want to try is shooting. We would like to be able to shoot an assortment of guns, driving distance from the strip would be great. Any recommendations?

Also any suggestions of other fun stuff to try whilst there would be welcomed.

    Cheers,

    D

There are so many places around Vegas where you can shoot whatever you want. Keep in mind that one clip of a machine gun can be shot within few seconds and the ammos are not cheap.
Every hotel in Vegas has a concierge desk with a load of information about everything. Plus, you will see a bunch of billboards advertising such activities. Just make sure your foreign friends do not point at you accidentally. Triggers can be sensitive.
    No worries.

So many choices it will be hard to name them all off the top of my head

    1. Front Sight - An actual firearms training facility that does 2-day and 4-day courses on a variety of subjects. Top notch training. Located in Pahrump about 45 minute drive. (www.frontsight.com)

    2. Clark County Shooting Park - An absolutely fantastic public shooting range. Very low cost place to bring your own firearms for shooting. They have trap, rifle, bow/arrow, and pistol ranges. (Clark County Shooting Complex)

    3. All kinds of tourist shooting ranges very close to the strip. For example, Machine Guns Vegas. (Machine Guns Vegas | Machine Guns Vegas | The Ultimate Las Vegas Firearms Experience) Also places like The Gun Store, The Range 702, and many others. These can be crowded and cost the most per minute, but are a quicker excursion.

    4. Less touristy gun ranges a little bit off strip. These will probably be less crowded with tourists and have lower prices. For example, there is a newer one in Green Valley area of Henderson. (Green Valley Range | Where shoot happens safely)

    5. Go country. Just buy a shotgun at any Wal-Mart and drive 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas and shoot bottles in the desert.

Great, thank you both for the suggestions.

Would I really be able to go to Walmart as an Australian and buy a shot gun for immediate use? I think that wouldn't be a good idea on our part, I have only ever shot one gun before (a pistol) and my friends have never even touched guns...we wouldn't know what to do!

If your into Ferrari stuff the Ferrari store in the Wynn is cool. The service department is a great place to visit too (sounds weird but, true). You can now ride the worlds largest Ferris wheel, The High Roller. Visit Exotics Racing, play some great golf courses, jump off of the Stratisphere (controlled bungi jump), or see any one of the fantastic shows. lots to do and see.

It seems like there are always shootings after a Music awards show or a high profile Boxing match in Vegas. You just have to time it right! :)

I honestly don't know what the policy is if you aren't a US citizen. If you are a US citizen, then yes, you just go to any store and buy one and that's it. One week wait if it is a handgun, but they don't sell those in grocery stores anyways. Look, this the country that defeated every evil empire of the past three hundred years. We didn't do it by having a population that knows how to write a strong letter of condemnation.

But OK, if you aren't proficient with a firearm then don't take that last option. I was joking, afterall.

My favorite ranges for rental are American Shooter and Discount Firearms. Range 702 and Machine Gun Store are nice places but more expensive tourist traps.

I personally go to American Shooter for range time, even though I have bought all but one of my guns at Discount. It's on Spring Mountain about 2km west of Treasure Island and Fashion Show Mall.

Hi all, thank you for the suggestions. We ended up going with the suggested machine guns Vegas; it was close to us at the Bellagio and we purchased a package that allowed us to shoot an M4, M249, a tactical shot gun and a sig. It was quite the experience, especially the 249!

    Thank you all once again.

    Regards, D
