I was looking through eBay a while back and saw this Rosso Barchetta F355.

It's an OBD1 with a Challenge grille, tubi exhaust, tan interior, three pedals, and (seemingly) sorted maintenance records. Basically the EXACT car I'd like.

It looks like it never sold on eBay but it was never re-listed.

It's VIN ZFFPR41A2S0101189. I know it's a snowball's chance in hell but has anyone 'round here owned this car? Even less likely, did anyone buy it?

And on a related note, anyone have any good experiences tracking down a car via its VIN?

it sold, but is now relisted again by a different dealer. That is sort of a question in itself.

Anyone know what the issue is? It was listed at $55K but sold QUICKLY. I inquired fairly soon after it was posted but it was pending sale already.

Its appears to be the best looking car I've ever seen in the pics.. so clean. Great color, challenge grill really completes it (as it does all 355s). Would be very curious to know its mechanical status and why its back on the market...

Axles, Don't fear any competition from me on it though, I just got done on different one :-D

Ha. It'll be another 2 years or so before I'll be ready to buy. I just need to do some first-rate stalking. Until then I'll have to make due with the ///M3. I can think of worse things.

So I emailed Grand Prix Motors who currently have it listed and this is the story they gave me:

"One of our clients decided to trade in his SL55 and get in to Ferrari world. We sold him a yellow 1992 Ferrari 348 and took his SL55 on trade. In couple of weeks he decided he wanted to upgrade to F355 and i knew guys at Park Place had one and we confirmed it was a good car with great service history. So he traded his F348 for the F355, few weeks later we got a yellow 2001 F360 on trade for 2011 Mercedes SLS and when our client saw the car he fell in love with it and decided to trade in his F355. So that's how we got the car."

There you go. Seems kinda too crazy not to be true.

You know the story is bull when he said the owner wanted to "upgrade" from the 348 to the 355....unless he met "downgrade". Maybe he just got mixed up.

    JUST KIDDING FELLAS...COULD NOT RESIST!!!!!!

Interestingly enough, I know someone who was considering purchasing the car but ultimately decided to be practical and pass it the Ferrari world. :)

Park Place had a whole list of receipts that I believe were from Ferrari of Seattle. It seemed to have all the major services and repairs done. Had a minor transmission(I think that's what it was) leak and needed tires. I seem to remember it only having one header replaced though.

He was pretty impressed with the car, but was more interested in picking it up for less then 50, and Park Place said no way. It would have been an impulse purchase so he wasn't desperate to drive the car home.
