I am looking at a 1999 550M with good doccumentation. Should I be afraid of a 70k 550M? The price is almost half of a low milage 99 550. Any thoughts? Thanks

As soon as you use the low mileage car the extra value will be lost - there are many instances of that engine in higher mileages without major bills - unless of course like one recent poster your intention is not to use it anyway.....

depends...run hard put away wet or maintained? It is so depreciated out that soon the parts value alone will be worth the entry fee. At that point how can you loose?

The key being "good documentation" if has been serviced properly your good.

I would take over a low miles car that has been sitting around 14 years .... They love to be driven (and serviced) !

    JMO.

    Cheers,

2 years ago I couldn't give my 2001 550 away because it had 39k miles on it!!!!!! I put 12k on her in the previous 3 years and had replaced just about everything that the garage queen cars will need to have done as soon as they're driven.

So, no don't be afraid of a car that's been driven. In fact, if you plan to drive the car (please do, they're fantastic), I think you'll be better off with a car that's had some regular use and therefore cheaper. Quite simply, the service records should show what's been done already. The more stuff that has been recently replaced (i.e. hoses, ecu's, bushings, etc), the better.

    Best, Paul
