As posted previously I received a traffic infringement notice for speeding. At the time I remembered and in fact posted that I recalled the car on the inside braking suddenly so asked for a photo which is below. This guy is here all the time. You can see the attitude of the Commodore station wagon that's is under brakes or am I just dreaming.

I'm trying to work out how they can differentiate which car was speeding??? To me there are so many variables. It's the principal to me not the fine or the money.

    Look forward to comments.

Don't they have sensors under the road so they know which lane is speeding?

(im assuming its a stationary radar not those new mobile ones)

No, one of those ones parked on the side of the road.

1 point. Points isn't the issue, I have no demerit points on record. Have been a very good boy for a long time.

4 lane road and they ping you 67/60? jeez they're harsh there.. remind me not to drive in VIC!

You look to be dead centre, I assume that's target of the radar.

    I'd challenge, nothing to lose!

What seems to be missed is the real question....were you speeding? By the look of the photo I would say yes it was you and not the other car.

    Good question. :)

I reckon because the station wagon has slammed on his brakes.

I'll admit I'm no saint and in fact I'm known to cheat at times :p this is just another attempt. :)

In all seriousness I did post the day I received the fine and I said I remembered a car passing me on the inside and then braking. From memory, AlexM said to get the photo to confirm if there were 2 cars in the photo.

That's why I have asked the question, if 2 cars are in he photo can they categorically state they know which one was speeding???

Yep, as Brett said. Assuming the speeding and photo are in sync, which should be correct, then as wagon I breaking, the speedinfpg vehicle must be the black car.

But the cameras have been known to b incorrect on more than one occasion.

The wagon *does* have the appearance of nose down as if braking.. but no brake lights are showing..

I'd challenge any multi-car snap just on sheer principle regardless, they've been known to throw them out with no fine but under what circumstances or camera technicalities I don't know.

Yes, but I'd write a letter to the revenue office first, before having it listed before a magistrate.

Because a car that is braking cannot be going faster than a car that is not?

The beam is across the road at an angle of 20 degrees. The adjudicator has a template they put across the photo and from that they can tell by the position of the vehicle which car triggered the camera. Simple science I'm told.

I think you modified the photo :p:p:p

I got done for 110 in 100 zone with 3 other cars in the picture, mine was the only Ferrari so I must have been the one speeding

Imagine going to court over that one

judge : are you claiming you weren't speeding ?

    dickhead : yes your honour

judge : you are in a Ferrari in this picture, it looks fast ?

dickhead : yes I am in the Ferrari but it's not a fast car

judge : can you prove this ?

dickhead : sure, just ask Horse and B27, but remember B27 uses a modified car :p

judge : oh ok, those pair are not that quick, I reckon Cardwell will beat them

See, the little cheeky face makes all the difference. ;)

Looks like the general consensus is that I am guilty. I still think I might at least have a go and ask the question. Can always invest the $149 on the overnight markets. :)

I dont see the brake lights lit up on the Commie wagon, so..............

1-The Commie wagon was not braking. :D:D

2-Both brake light bulbs are blown on Commie wagon. :D:D

3-Brake light switch is faulty on Commie wagon. :D:D

4-Brake lights bulb fuse is blown in Commie wagon. :D:D

5-Bad earth to rear brake lights on Commie wagon. :D:D

Draw your own conclusion to my findings Brettski. ;);)

Would fighting this be constructive use of your time?

Regardless of the outcome is it worth the headache?
