I requested entry at Pebble Beach and the Concourso. Pebble beach Concourse D'E stated that they do not have a class this year for my '77 Euro. Concourso Italiano did accept it (Pretty good deal too, $60 for entry Vs $100 to walk in as a visitor!).

I have never entered a car show before (when I had a pristine '85 308QV). I will be in Monterey that weekend and the events sound fun. I have never been one to flaunt anything in my life, thus I am not sure what I will gain in being there. If I have the car there, what do I do? Sit around it all day? Answer questions that I may not be able to answer properly?

What's your spin on entering a car in an event like this?

I think you will have a blast talking w/ other Tifosi. I entered a local show last year and was bored out of my skull w/ all the red necks & their hot rods. Not to mention no shade & 90 degrees!

Do it and you will learn as you go. I won to major events. When your registration comes they may give you some guidlines - you be placed in group and catagory.

Basically, I can tell you try to keep everything as stock as you can! They like to see original owners manual, tool kits, etc. If I remember correctly on the 308's cars they all inspected the battery terminal also...something about corrosion on the ground wire.. Not in my class....but I like to follow them around.

In all the events I did there was a 3 man team of judges (I should say 3 person because one was a woman who was EXTREMELY knowledable).

First, they take about 10 minutes to walk around the car to check body fit, panels, see if any signs of repaint, bottom of front spoiler, tires, rims, etc.

2nd, The visually inspect the interior. Then you start the car and the check for everything working...I mean everything. Headlights, (low-high), turn signals, horn, radio, A/C working, even if the license plate light! So everything has to work. If it does not (ie burned bulb) you are allowed 5 minutes to get it working.

3rd, pop the hood. Basic visual inspection, listen for strange sounds, look for oil leaks, etc.

If you have anything that is not stock (floor mats) pull them. I got dinged 1/2 point for not having my stock mats under the Keith Collins mats, 1/2 point for a clear bra, 1/2 for not having the original license plate frame, Ferrari's come with this ceap black plastic frame that dealers usually throw away and replace with their own.. I have since rectified all those except the clear bra of course.

Don't go crazy on waxing, I use to think the one with the most wax wins, nothing like that...but if you do wax make sure you remove all residue in the cracks, etc.

    Good Luck

I will be at Concorso only, with my GT4 (Ferrari Dino exhibitor), the car will be on display only, I'm not participating in the judged Ferrari portion of the concours. Although the car will be very presentable for the show, there's too many small, non-original stuff that would deduct points. To me, that's okay since I'm not into the concours scene anyways. I will however, have the car in its original colour scheme by then of Black with matt-black Boxer trim! I will be having some bodywork done to it soon so while its getting painted, might as well have this done too! Must be the only GT4 in the world with this colour scheme...

I'm really looking forward to this event and the drive down to it!
