  1. Yes, get rid of those ugly side markers!

  2. No, Dont do it, it wont be stock and they are for our safety!

I am getting prepared to repaint my 78 308 GTS it is Balck on Black.
I will repaint black. My question is should I remove the front and rear side marker lights. I have dont this before on a P-car and it was a big improvement in the lines. All you need to do is look at a Euro to see!

If it a US model, consider the small European "button" type. No lights at all could be a safety hazard. Americans are crappy drivers (in general) as it is, therefor leaving them without any idea you are turning/changing lanes is asking for trouble IMHO.

Show me a pic of the marker free euro car, and I'll give you my 5 cents. Another possibility would be to use a flush mounted marker that can be found in the hot rodder market books. Would require a little cut and paste, but definitely a clean line, and not blingy. I do agree with the previous post, that the safety issue is worth considering.

I like that idea, looks better but still a little safety remains. It looks from one of the F-car books I have that some euro 308s had the button up front and no rear huge square red marker.

Correct, Euro had button front and nothing in the rear. Of course you COULD also just install a set in the rear if you wanted to.

A neat trick is to put in a flush led light from behind as seen on some tricked out motorcycles. The led is mounted in from behind and the lens is cut to the exact shape of the hole (you can make it a shield or a horse), after the car is primed and ready to paint you sand the lens flush with the body then a light coat of black candy is applied over the top. After the car is painted the lens is cleared over with the whole car and you see no lines and no light until it turns on. It is not the easiest mod but it sure looks great and will blow your friends minds when they see it. Very trick. P.S. it really only works with black or very very dark colors.

Do you mean just a red button on the rear.
Q#2: Are they red or yellow buttons on the front of the European Version?

Well it does look like a red button behind the front tire on the 328!

I will ask my paint guy if he wants to try the inset deal as I too think that is very trick, even though I am jumping over the "keep it stock" line by a mile with a mod like that!

My '82 Euro 308 GTS QV has round amber lights in front, no lights on the rear. I've never seen round red ones, but I could make you a pair of red lenses for a small phenominal fee...

The round lights s/b available from Ferrari.uk.

In case anyone hasnt figured it out by now it is a US Version with Euro front spoiler and front bumper "according to previous owner" - isnt there an ancronym for that?

    #1 Leave it alone
#2 Yellow Button on front nodda in rear
#3 Do a reccessed Prancing Horse in Back and
reccessed Yellow Mini SF badge up front

#3 Is WAY too bling bling, but I am thinking about a toned down version of 2 n 3!

On the 914 it wasnt so bad cuz the way the lights are laid out you can still see some of the main turn signal from the side. You might remeber the 914 US Version had a huge round side marker.

I'd do it. If you don't like it, you can always knockout the patches or redrill the holes. Here's a pic with the rears removed.

Why did you decide to just remove the rear, safety? How did you handle the lose wires?

I really like your wheels can you tell me where you got them?

I just did the rears 'cause I needed to do some body work on the rear, still haven't done the fronts yet. I really don't think safety is much of an issue for me...I don't seem to drive it much at night. The wires are just tucked underneath the carpet.

I bought them years ago. I bought them used. They are/were made by HRE. They are a GTO copy. They don't make this model anymore, but every now and then I see them floating around.
