I have a 1992 Ferrari 348 GTB Serie Speciale (No. 9 of 100). I have seen the challenger replacement tail light assembly. I have seen pictures only. I think it looks great. It will cost approximately $4000.00 to convert. Is this a cheap add-on as far as the looks / quality?. If I were to replace the assembly, would it be better to paint it (new tail light assembly) or go with the black challenger series with the holes for additional engine ventilation? Give me your thoughts.

Okay, I'm a little biased (I have a tb Serie Speciale Challenge racer), but the SS-unique "open" tail lights are the most compelling part of the Speciale- why mess with them?

I also like the look of the stock Speciale tail lights. The general look of the car is linear and the tail lights work with that theme.
