I pulled out a one inch screw from the LR tire. The screw appeared to go into the tire at an angle. The screw was about 1/2 inch from the outside of the tire. There was no air leakage but in the process of removing the screw some rubber compound came off with the screw. So right now the tire is holding air. Do I trust the tire? If I replace the tire, should I replace one or both rears? The tires are Bridgestones with 1500 miles on them.

With only 1500 miles, if they were driven civil I would replace just the one tire. However, if you have driven it hard I would consider both. In any case I would not trust a tire that has been compromised with my life at high speeds. Call me silly.

Some would probably say replace it and others might say, don't fix it if it is not broke. If it was my car I would probably replace it just to be safe. In the end it is really your decision. I don't know if that helps you any but that is just me 2 cents. Have fun with it no matter what! -John

No! Don't bother! Why should you? You're only driving a $200,000 car that's capable of 190+mph! Save a few dollars, you might need to spend the money on some life insurance one day!

Replace one tyre if you've driven the car gently, replace both if not! Or go mad and have the tyre tread depth checked and judge for yourself! Rear tyres are probably only good for acout 4000 miles anyway, so spoil yourself and get a matching pair!

Just wait 'til she blows, then do it! If you're lucky, it might not cause much damage or loss of life.

Jeff call the manufacturer of the tire and ask for advice. They may want to look at it before advising. They know best.:)

It really depends on the damage. If a tread block is compromised, you want to replace it so you don't have a chunk of tread block ripped off. If it's just a couple of mm penetration into the tread block surface that isn't more than 3-4mm wide, you can probly leave it if you don't do any tracking.

If you are worried, at least have a dealer or reputable shop look at it. The advise is free.

If you drive the car hard, replace tire......if you just drive it for enjoyment and never "push"it, which many of us do, just have a plug put in it 20 bucks.......I had a plug in my tire for 3 thousand miles on an F car with no issues, I had a plug in my Camry tire for 50 thousand miles.......I've been about 80 mph in the Camry for extended periods of time and up to about 110 in the Fcar with a plug and no problems whatsoever.

You have to decide which is more important an extra $500 or your life. The chances of anything ever happening from it are very small but not worth the risk. Especially if you push your car.

I'm replacing the tire today. The rear tire is only $300. It's well worth the peace of mind.
