I am in hopes that this will be ok on the 360 thread by the site administrators as I had posted it on the 458 thread previously. I have pretty much decided to sell my 360 for the 458 but wanted to hear from the 360 Owners

    _____

I have a perfect running and in perfect shape 2003 360 coupe Grigio Alloy with 15,300 miles. You cannot find a scratch, nick or swirl in the paint anywhere along with just a smallest amount of wear on the driver’s seat which you have to look for . It runs flawlessly along with being gorges. Mint condition for the overall car would be an understatement. All required maintenance work has been done with records to as show proof. New belts, brakes, tires, fluids, etc.. Picture on 458 thread.

I guess I am trying to convince myself that I do not need to upgrade to a 458 and that I should just stick with the 360 that I know have. Really on the fence. I work out of the country and only return one month out of the year so it would only be driven much when I am home or when my wife uses it. Your thoughts?

The 2011 I found is $210,000. Not sure what mine would be worth especially since I would use it as a trade toward the 458. Any ideas what I should be looking for towards a trade or would it be best to sell it privately?

It's all up to you and what YOU want, not us.

Ask yourself why you want the 458. Go drive one and you'll have your answer.

My thinking is whenever you have the opportunity to upgrade, do it. You only live once. But you are only home a month out of a year? You will take a hit with depreciation (if that bothers you) for a car that you barely have time to drive.

Also, it is better to sell the car on your own...if you have the time. You will take at least a 10% hit if you consign or trade-in your 360 (if that bothers you).

    Sent you pm.

Was this the 360 at Wide World a year or 2 back? I think I was the one who looked at it for you.. If it is, then it is definitely a gorgeous car. As far as upgrading, I agree with everything that has been said:

    1) 458s will continue to depreciate with the 488s rolling out
    2) May not be worth it if you're barely going to be around to drive it
    3) If you are going to upgrade, sell it yourself instead of trading it in

Personally, I would not sell any exotic car myself. In terms of time and risk, a consignment would be better. If your 360 is a stick, I'd hang onto it. They are holding value while 458s will likely fall when 488s start hitting the streets.

Agree with above. If the 360 is a stick I'd hold on to it. If its an F1.. why not upgrade to the 458. IMHo the lack of a stick in a 458 is a reason why I don't find the 458 as compelling personally. But if I had an F1, I'd definitely consider upgrading.

The 458 does everything better than the 360. It's simply evolution and improvement at work. IMHO the 458 chassis is finally done right handling-wise.

If it were me I'd do it. Only rub is the car will be barely driven. Issues from that might taint the experience but I'd do it. You never know what the future holds!

This one is dead easy for me and should be for you... Don't take my guide prices as anything more than an example, I'm in the UK so have no idea what your car would be worth in your part of the world, but my point is this:

If your car is worth $110,000 for example and the 458 you've seen is $210,000, drive it as someone else suggested and then ask yourself, is it really worth another $100K? Is it really twice the car? Drive it, ask yourself this question and there is your answer!

Another members comment regarding depreciation is also another factor worth considering.

I recently convinced myself I needed to upgrade from my 360 to a 430. After driving a very good 430 I immediately knew it was not worth the extra $, to me. Maybe a 458 would be different. Have you driven a 458?

As someone else said here before, an upgrade is always a good thing. That's why its called an 'upgrade" As far as values, the regular 360 will not appreciate in the future unless you own a 360 CS IMO. The 458s keep depreciating... The longer you wait, the better deal you will get on a 458. I would wait for another year before I Pull the trigger. Once the 488 comes out, a lot of people will be trading their 458s. That's old news...

definitely that's a huge jump in everything - 458 is quite possibly the best performance car built that can also be dd

Having moved from a 430 spider to the 458 spider it's night and day. My .02 cents if you buy the 430 you will loose money on that too. Bypass the 430 and get a 458. Who knows what the future will bring with the cars and your life's challenges. No time like the present bro.

As a Scud owner, I probably will never sell/trade my car as it's exactly what I want in a Ferrari.

What should you ask yourself? What are you looking for out of owning an F car? Do you crave the latest and greatest design, Double clutch gearbox, sound, driving experience, or ? It may even help to sit down and write it out. Then drive what you think fits into that category and make an informed decision.

If you are looking to upgrade, I would not overlook buying a Challenge Stradale or Scuderia. I know they are not for everyone (for those that want the luxury the CS or Scud doesn't offer) but there's no arguing that they offer one of the best driving experiences you can get out of a Ferrari at the moment (especially for the price).

I have a 2003 coupe similar to yours in mileage and I don't care how nice it is you should upgrade if you can and want to. I would do it in a heartbeat if I could.

If I could do this upgrade, specifically to a 458 Spider from my present 2001 360 Spider F1, I would do that.

It comes down to what your looking for.

If performance is the goal, then by all means, the 458 is definitely a step up.

If your transitioning from a Manual 360, you will definitely miss it as compared to the DCT in the 458. The DCT will get you better times on the track, but nothing connects you to the road like a gated MT.

Both models will continue to depreciate. More so with the 458. With all the insanity lately over MT Ferrari values, the 360 MT may hold its value better. Fortunately, they did make plenty of MT 360s, as compared to 430s.

Yes this is the one you looked at for me. I think you even took the picture below of it. It is as beautiful as the way you explained it.

Life is to short so I guess I will buy the 458 and sell mine when I return to the states. I will probably regret it though as it looks and runs beautifully...

The step up is quantum and worth the extra cash. As someone said earlier, a 430 is a significant upgrade to consider, especially a Scud. Way, way more fun and IMO, better looking and more modern. But if you can easily move to a 458, do it!!!

If you ever go for the 458, I might be interested in your 360. PM me for details. Thanks!
