wouldnt it be helpful to have a section where people could the actual price they bought and sold their sports cars? ....the model , the year, options and conditions could be included along with any extrainious circumstances of the sale.. pics could be added if the person wanted...this would be a big help in determining the true market value of various sports cars...this would tell a lot more than the asking price in various sources such as dupont and ferrari market letter, ebay, the local dealers asking price..etc...we could become the true gauge of used sports and exotic car prices...

CoolIdea...yet I'm sure a lot of people are not willing to share how much they paid or sold their car for b/c they will have to hear all the comments, etc.

I discussed this a while back with Gerald Roush of the Ferrari Market Letter when discussing his asking price index. Simply put, egos get in the way of the truth when you are dealing with expensive cars. The seller will fib too much, and the buyer tends to fib too little. At least with the asking price, you have a concrete point of beginning. It is up to the reader to apply whatever discount he deems appropriate.

Only the Car Sluts, uh, I mean independent brokers of fine automobiles, really know the true bid/ask spread on Ferrairs. For some reason, they ain't talking.

However, if you are considering a sale or purchase, go ahead and post the "real" info here on F-Chat. Odds are that everybody will tell you that this price is either too high or too low. :)
