I bought my 1988.5 Testarossa in 2000. There was a snafu before the deal could close due to a supposed safety issue- design problems with the shoulder harness mouse track- so the broker split the $3000 repair cost bill from Shelton ferrari, and I paid an extra $1000. I immediately disconnected the ECU wires and used the harness manually as the mouse stays parked at the back of the window. Well 6 months ago i get a letter from Ferrari of NA stating that my dealer will do a free repair- so i take him up on it- and it takes 6weeks because a parts problem! Now I guess I will just disconnect them again, for as long as I own the car!
    Is anyone else doing this?

Yes, most have done this recall--it came out in 2003. Some have held off since their belts were working and did not want to risk damage to the trim pieces that have to come off. For me it would be a no-brainer, let them put new parts on your car, they will stand behind their work.

Be forewarned however that even with new parts the belt system is still pretty finicky. They like to be used, my drivers side is very reliable, my passenger side less-so. Just ensure they lock to the rear or do not drive--with no airbags you definitely want the shoulder belt system operational.
