I've been meaning to post this for a while. I have lived in Hong Kong off and on for over 20 years. Last year I was able to buy my dream car, a red Ferrari 599 from Italian Motors, the official dealer here.

The experience could not have been any better. Alex Yuen the sales associate was extremely helpful with all kinds of registrations, insurance and advice. He also was able to recommend someone for my wife to sell her VW to... nothing to do with Ferrari at all. This level of service has continued for the last 6+ months after sales with both him and Ferrari Hong Kong in general. They are quick and easy to get in for service and always willing to help. This has not been my experience with other high end car brands here so this makes the experience with Ferrari all the more special. So to Alex, thank you.

Do to an unexpected and positive change in circumstances, my wife and I will be moving from Hong Kong to Chicago this June. We have just bought a house and are having our first child together. We have an older daughter from another marriage.

So unfortunatly, the cars (The 599, Beetle and 997) all must all be sold and my brief experience as a Ferrari owner here in Hong Kong will be coming to an end. Again I wanted to say thank you to Alex for helping to make my Ferrari experience so terrific.

    PS- Notes on photos:

    • Me (on left) next to Alex at Ferrari Hong Kong (In Repulse Bay).

    • My 599 (front left) in for some service at Ferrari Hong Kong (in New The Territories). The grey colored 599 in middle is a MT. The other cars I think you will all identify on your own and admire like me. The white VW Beetle is my wife's car. She followed me over to give me a ride home!

    • Driving my 997 MT home one day in light rain and passing a very slow and safe driver from Ferrari HK Service Centre in a client's stunning 275 GTB. Note- The car from my understanding and owner in HK are both well know, as is the driver in this shot. I checked with Ferrari HK and they identified the driver as their associate and said post away

    • My 599 parked on some very narrow road up on the Peak, Hong Kong.

You have a nice 599. I love the pic of it parked in front of the wall. I've never been to Hong Kong. Are there any open roads to enjoy your car? I always thought of everywhere being crowded?

    Drew hi,

You ask a couple good question and ones we get lot here in Hong Kong. More so you tend to get get rude comments that owning a Ferrari in Hong Kong is a waste since there are no open roads to test the limits. However in my opinion owning and driving a Ferrari in Hong Kong is a blast.

It's a different experience. There are slow windy roads. There is also a big enthusiast group for exotics here. So if your into socializing there's a lot around ownership , social drives and meet ups. A lot of these are done early Sunday morning when the roads are fairly free from traffic.

I suppose it's just what your into and levels. People in Germany or other places with unlimited speed zones might say owning a Ferrari in the U.S. Is a waste too!

Roads outside the US also leave much less margin for error. There are nice roads in HK, just more suited to lower-HP cars and a little bit out of the way for most people living in the city. Those with the means and the time can also take their cars to Zhuhai for a track day.

Never been to one, but I've heard the Sunday car meets in HK are a blast as well. Pictures show a surprising variety including lots of oddball cars.

Yes some roads are tricky here. Worse the parking spaces. Usually you can only open the door part way and have to shimmy in. HK is cramped!!! As for variety of cars, yes it's amazing. At the grocery store the other day and a Jag XJ220 parked at valet. I had never seen one before. It was huge!
