This is my parents pool, (and house). I will be adding a pool to my own house in a year or two.. once I finish interior rennovations and landscaping.

Upon seeing all pools in this thread my favorite pools are the ones of DrStranglove and Axecent.

While i dig the most the beautiful work of design in Axecent pool, DrStranglove would be my favorite as the area seems more secluded than Axecent (I would feel exposed, all open air with the cows, like more privacy). One is more classy, another is more modern. Both are gorgeous. I really like the diversity of shape array, looks and the infinity edge on Axecent.

For me a pool win- must be rectangular shape. (I prefer it more than the lagoon/island type pool). Also by being straight it's better for swimming if you like to train. I absolutely love infinity edge, clean, modern type of pools.

Philt68 is simple but it works. For something simple, i like it and find it nice too.

CMY's is too much for me. Decor is gorgeous but , i like it more simple. Not too overcharged.

Here's my pool view from my MIA apartment. Largest in FL :p

I have more, i asked about the other pool's being different than mine's and hotel personnel gave me a hotel tour by the most expensive Villas, etc and they let me swim in the pools i liked the most.

how fast do pools evaporate? If you can put it in inches, one a day or one inch every few days? etc. thanks.

It varies greatly depending on: air temperature, pool water temperature, relative humidity, and amount of sunlight the pool sees.

If you believe your pool might be leaking and not just evaporating, the commonly-performed test is to sit a 5 gallon bucket on the first pool step and fill it with water to match the pool level. After 24-48 hours check the water levels and the pool is now lower than the level in the bucket, you have a leak and it's not just evaporation.

That's good advice. In Colorado I lose up to 1/2" per day when it is dry and windy.

I thought it was just the cold nights, warm days condensing off a lot of water. Time to shut it down anyway. Shut down the pump and put on the green stretch cover. A week later I looked through the cover and it was almost empty. This is a 35K gallon in ground with an 8 ft. deep end. I got my boots on and this is what I found 5 in. off the bottom. Seam separated. 4 years old liner with a 25 year warranty. Liner is hanging off the walls. I got 2 warm days to get patched. Installer has not called back.

Same thing happened to me at my vacation house. But that liner predated my owning it so I just got a new one. Also a 25 year warrantee. The good news is those are pretty easy to patch.

The bad is the pretty big sink hole I bet you have now under it. Dont just let him patch it!

You say the liner is hanging from the walls ? 35 k worth of water has a lot of weight, its a good possibility the liner is stretched, this means that you would really want it replaced.
If there was a hole at a point other than a seam it can be patched, seam tears don't patch well, if at all.
Besides the installer has insurance to cover things like this, they don't happen very often but when they do its good to know you hired a licensed and insured business man.

I got a patch on it. Looked good. Rare 70 deg. for a couple days. I'll check it today then get it filled to protect sidewalls for the winter. I walked all around inside it. A little spongy inside that split but rest felt solid. I'm on top a big hill and the solis are glacial till. All mixed up with clay here and 10 ft. away sand/rock. I don't know where the water went. Get it full, protect it for winter. Definitely a new liner in the spring. Fight the warranty issue through the winter.

Patched Sat. Clear line is Mon. rain. They say it's warranty prorated no labor. So I get a free liner and it only costs $2K. Calculating cost of 4 tandem loads of dirt and wifey whizzes a shoe past my head.
